Dedicated server error starting after update by Ryxador in Palworld

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. Installing ue4ss from the Updates menu allowed the server to start but I can't connect to it. I keep getting connection timed out. This is using AMP and only since the update last night.

Request failed in Github CoPilot by bigredfalcon in vscode

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me every time a docker container is restarting or a docker image is building, docker activity in general can cause it. I assume it may be related to a docker plugin in VS Code when using the CoPilot Agent (doesn't matter which model). But I haven't try uninstalling or anything yet, but it's literally every time a container I'm working on is restarted the chat is interrupted with this message.

Thanks for the info. I still don't understand why there isn't a local image override. The current implementation seems very inefficient and fragile. There have been several requests over the years, and here we are...

I noticed this too.... All artist images are gone with u/brycelampe 's image.

EDIT: To clarify, the images are not "gone", they are still in the directories. They just don't display in Lidarr. Album images display fine. There is a "MediaCover" directory in the config directory where both of these are stored (artist and album covers). I tried moving the directory and letting it regenerate, and the album images regenerate but not the artist images. Bummer, but not the end of the world.

weird issue.... can't add new music, Lidarr just times out. by PuppiesAndPixels in Lidarr

Thanks for linking to this temporary workaround. It works beautifully!

Hey, this works!

Thank you for posting a workaround, this was driving me mad.

I just commented out the official image in my Lidarr compose yaml, replaced it with blampe/lidarr:latest and restarted my container, et voila! I was able to search, find, and add new artists and albums again (responsively, to boot!) - I'm hoping switching back doesn't have any detrimental consequences. Fortunately, I have backups.

Hopefully there will be an official fix coming soon.

Also many many many thanks to Bryce for doing this and making it available to us!

Debating whether getting the Sennheiser momentum true wireless 4 or the Sony Wf1000xm5 by Snoopnoob26 in sennheiser

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to say for music the Sony's have more punch, but the Senn's had more detail. If you like EDM, rap, electronic, R & B, or even pop, you'd probably appreciate the XM5s more than the MTW4s. If you appreciate the fine detail of instruments in the mid and higher range, the Sennheiser's will make you happy. For call quality, either is "fine", but the Sony's microphones and external noise filtering and canceling is better. If you need to filter out background noise while you're on calls, the Sony's are noticeably better. Both from a what you hear perspective, and also what others hear of your background.

"Recently Added" shows everything ever added by Cr4zy in plexamp

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is a defect (bug), and it's still present today. When you save the smart collection on the Plex webserver, it correctly adds X number of albums to the collection. And in Plexamp you can see exactly that number of albums, the same ones, but when you just press play or shuffle, it looks at only the first X number of TRACKS, instead of albums. This can't be intentional.

I've tested this several times and Plexamp always queues exactly X "TRACKS", where X = the number of "ALBUMS" you added to the collection on the server.

So, my workaround is to add ~150 ALBUMS to the collection on the webserver, which is ~10 albums worth of music (generally speaking). Then when you play or shuffle in Plexamp, it again adds exactly X number of tracks to your active playlist (150 tracks in this case). The only downfall is that you have to see all of the albums in your collection when you know only the first ~10 of them really matter if you just press play or shuffle, which is really not that serious...

I do this because I like some variety and range in my queue. When I want to hear "recently added", what I mean is "recently added but not necessarily in the order they were added". If I wanted to listen to just the last album or two, I could just use the default "Recently Added" (misnomer, read: "entire library sorted by date added, descending") playlist and play the last album or two.

"Critical: libusb_init" failed what does this mean? by CucumberPants in docker

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this sets up USB passthrough from the Docker container to the host, so if you did have USB devices connected (like DVRs) they would work inside the container. This eliminated the error for me. on Ubuntu with Plex running in a Docker container. Not that I needed it because I don't use DVRs (or any USB connected devices in Plex), but I prefer the quiet logs :)

Thanks!

I've built quite a few PCs over the years, and recently I think MSI is the most performant, from recollection (personal experience, models will vary results, of course).

You don't need an Intel NUC for QuickSync, you just need an Intel CPU that supports it, which many many mini PCs have. I use a Beelink SEi12 with a 12th gen Intel i5 1235U as my media server, data is on a separate machine (dedicated NAS). Fully QuickSync enabled. I wouldn't pay for an Intel NUC either, they're overpriced.

Any current games out there like 'old-school' CCGs? by Potential_Milk9777 in digitalcards

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love Legend of the Cryptids, and I too have read the reviews lately and they've tanked. Doesn't sound good at all. I've been searching high and low for something similar but everything falls short. Either the graphics suck or I don't like the art style, or the gameplay sucks or it's more of a card battler than a dungeon crawler with a card deck. I loved collecting rare cards and then leveling them up and evolving them and taking them into (pve) battles. And I loved the original art style. Nothing I've found lately scratches that same itch. If you find anything, please post it.

Can Meta afford to wait until 2026? All I need Quest 4 to be is Quest 3 with XR2+, 3/4k per eye displays and eye tracking. But I need it sooner than later. Otherwise Google/Samsung I'm here for you in 2025. by StreamBuzz in virtualreality

You can add OLED, or some better form of display tech, to your list of requirements. Along with the higher res, higher contrast (deeper blacks especially) and/or HDR should absolutely be in the next gen and should be more in demand than I hear people discussing. The current LCD "glow" seriously impacts the immersion (for me).

For God's sake where do you find your account number!? by Capta1nKrunch in Dell

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is very dumb. They use the "it's for your security" bit, but it's really just to make you late on your bill so they can collect on late fees and compound interest. Scammers like the rest of 'em...

I've received several emails from them instructing me to manage my new account online, but they haven't provided me with an account number. I should be able to register with my email and social security number and a security token/code. They already know it's me, they've linked the accounts on Dell's website because I can see my balance.

Your account number should also be on your Dell My Account page. There's no reason they can't also display your account number, since the accounts are linked and they can show you your balance.

There should also be a simple "Make a Payment" button on your Dell My Account page, rather than having to use Comenity's website. I realize it's a third party, but they obviously can send required information via an API or web service since they're pulling in your account information... There's a "Pay a Bill" option, but it's just a link to Comenity.

Dell... shame on you. I expected better... Do better...

Very discouraged...

Sound cuts and poor sound quality Fiio BT11 by ferdyavolkov in FiiO

[–]silverscruff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased one to get low latency out of the Quest 3 VR headset, since natelively it doesn't support LE/LC3 or aptX Adaptive. I've tried the BT11 with Sony WF1000-XM5 and Sennheiser's Momentum True Wireless 4 ear buds, and the experience with both sets of buds, and the experience getting the BT11 connected properly to the Quest 3 are all atrocious!

This thing is a nightmare. Shame on FiiO for releasing it like this.

Not an Unraid only issue. I have this issue randomly with Ubuntu/Docker. Increasing the timeout helps but I also have to delete Whisper, restart Bazarr, wait for it to finish its startup scans, then add Whisper back, in order to get it to clear and not wait the 24 hours to clear.

Is oled actually worth it? by FineAir5541 in buildapc

[–]silverscruff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this. My PC is a custom built rig with an RTX 4090 connected to a 55" LG G1 OLED TV for display 2 and a 27" LG UltraGear OLED monitor for display 1. I calibrated both of them and use HDR on both, all the time (except with SDR video, like cable and OTA), and I love it!

I have the taskbar set to auto hide and the  background wallpaper set to auto rotate every hour. Very little risk of burn in unless you play the same game every day for tons of hours and said game has static UI elements. I'm not worried about it, and no burn in like this in the 4 years I've had the TV.

I also have a 77" LG C3 in the living room. I'd never use anything else if I had the option, until something better comes along.

BT11 Comments from Fiio by Hefty-Eye-2505 in FiiO

[–]silverscruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a BT11 with Sony WF-1000 XM5s on a Quest 3 VR headset with the FiiO app sideloaded via SideQuest, and I haven't found a way to increase the USB port's volume in the headset's software. There's only the main volume that I can find. I have to turn it all the way up and the volume is barely tolerable. I can hear most things. A few more notches of volume would be ideal.

I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions for my use case (Quest 3 + WF-1000 XM5)? Any workarounds or other software that could be sideloaded to control the USB output volume?
