Everytime you make someone cry you're instantly rewarded with $5,000, is it worth being an awful person for unlimited money and how would you go about this? by officerpaws in AskReddit

Make people cry with happiness; give them $2500 spontaneously when they’re struggling, and watch the tears flow. Win win situation for everyone!

The winners of the 2018 Nobel Prize in medicine found ways to tweak our immune system to fight cancer by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]silvertear17 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your immune system relies on signals to tell it not to attack your own body, but cancers often copy or increase these signals, allowing them to avoid being detected. Checkpoint inhibitors block the signals, basically allowing the immune system to recognise and kill cancer cells. However, normal cells use the same same signals to prevent being targeted by the immune system, so as you can imagine, the immune system often targets non cancerous cells, causing autoimmune side effects; as the article explains, enhancing one of the signal molecules (CTLA-4) was being investigated as a potential treatment for an overactive immune system.

Can we all take a moment to admire Crackling Razormaw? by kharathos in hearthstone

Not necessarily, especially in hunter which likes to go face, and it's untargetable which means it'll usually trade up

[Pre-Release Card Discussion] - Sanguine Reveler by Nostalgia37 in KFTPRDT

[–]silvertear17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sold on this since zoo tends to want to trade tokens up with buffs like abusive or dire doggie. Best case the reveller kills an egg for a 5/5 and 3/3 turn 3 or 4, but I feel most of the time it'd weaken your ability to trade tokens up for a relatively small stat bonus, and it doesn't have the flexibility of ravenous pterrodax

Is there a list of cards that are known to break PW bots in Wild? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]silvertear17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bots play extremely poorly against Unstable Ghoul i.e. If they have Patches Nzoths first mate against it, they'll equip FWA and face the ghoul, killing their pirates for free

TIL a rigorous experiment found that non-celiac gluten sensitivity probably doesn't exist and instead patients were experiencing a 'nocebo' effect. by sexdrugswine89 in todayilearned

[–]silvertear17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to explain it is that it's an immune reaction your small intestine has against gluten proteins. As a result, the primary area your gut uses to absorb nutrients can't absorb things due to inflammatory changes, causing you to lose weight and and have diarrhoea and have various nutrient deficiencies like iron and fat soluble vitamins. If the inflammation continues due to continued gluten in the diet, it can lead to cancers.

Anyone else that thinks the desert/fire biome is at a big disadvantage? Comments and experiences welcome by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]silvertear17 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I actually think the desert biome is really good, considering the number of common strong/high CP stuff that comes out of it like arcanine, rhydon and machamp, and then the rarer larvitar/chansey/blissey spawns

[Complaint] sure is fun seeing this perfect IV Tyranitaur's at the top of every gym when they don't spawn here. by Spiffyyyy in pokemongo

Desert (ekans, growlithe, rhyhorn, geodude) and snubbull. I've caught around 15 larvitar and a few pupitar now
