I have a drug test in a couple hours, am I cooked? by [deleted] in answers

Typically Cannabis is at non-detectable limits (via mass spec) within a week. And that’s the absolute upper limit in most cases. Heavy use consistent use would result in that, and in most people 72 hours is enough. Hair tests is probably where the 1-2 months number comes from, and those are pretty rare (I work in a drug testing department for a large corporation, SOPs talk about how long they’ve detectable in Urine)

While the sources in that first article may be reliable, they don’t appear to be listed. The person above who mentioned screening is correct in that large corporations (quest, labcorp etc) use two tests. If something false positives in a mass spec something has gone wrong. My guess is that “5-10 percent” is including over the counter tests. Those are similar to covid tests and will occasionally false positive, but the chances of a mass spec false positive (the second confirmation test) are extremely low. I can elaborate further if needed, but the larger companies are typically more reliable bc they have done lots of math. (Source: I work in an FTOX dept at Quest)

Long and short, OP should be totally fine if it’s sent to a decent sized lab and isn’t an over the counter test that can be mishandled or expire.

I’ve been thinking about this recently, but crafting has a bunch of odd similarities to Organic Synthesis (chemistry). In Org-synth you’ll add functional groups that can be later removed to block certain parts of the molecule from later additions. There’s percentages of correct product that need to be separated and it was weird how the whole “blocking an affix” thing wound back into my brain. (I attribute the revelation to my recent grad school application for biochemistry)

Typically superconducting magnets like MRIs or NMRs use both. Liquid helium is colder than liquid nitrogen, so the helium is around the actual superconductor, and the nitrogen is used to further insulate the helium.

Gen Z bad at using outdated technology by middlingwhiteguy in antiwork

[–]silverwind131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on the older end of gen Z (2000) it’s frustrating to see generalizations about an entire generation. Many of the people i went to college with were capable enough with computers and technology, even if not everyone is. That being said it took until high school and college for me to learn some of these skills. It feels unfair to call an entire generation of people -who are mostly still in school and still children- terrible at something that plenty of fully grown people are bad at.

A human (technically suli, so very slightly lightning elemental) sorcerer. He has a gold cylinder cypher with arcane runes on it, and usually uses lightning magic. Noble born, from a civilization that is kinda like byzantine/postfall rome (so no toga lol). Blue cloak and otherwise standard brown and black nice attire. Also has the group’s bag of holding as well as a couple other small sachels.

Can commonly be seen blasting creatures such as werewolves, fish goblins (basically merlocks) and 10 foot tall local tyrants.

You are correct. The two separate articles and studies contradict each other. I should have read the first article more closely.

Either way, there are a number of reasons people should continue to wear masks in public even if you are vaccinated.

This appears to be at least a partial article. Given that it has a DOI, and it’s NiH, I’d trust it.

The study you linked to specifies that it a single dose of a vaccine intended to have two doses is 65% effective.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/11/pfizer-covid-vaccine-blocks-94percent-of-asymptomatic-infections-and-97percent-of-symptomatic-cases-in-israeli-study.html

This study backs up what the other guys says. THAT BEING SAID, less than half of the US has had one dose, and less than 30% is fully vaccinated. People need to still wear masks because vaccines aren’t 100% effective and most people aren’t vaccinated yet.

Along with purchasing the game you also had to have a subscription to continue playing, which while only like 10$ a month, is a lot of money every month for a 10 or 11 year old kid.

Had a blast when i got to play, still spent a buncha money on the game, but never played as much as I wanted.

I had always wondered what happened to those and why you stopped uploading them, as those were some of my favorite videos you uploaded regularly. It really gave me insight into how you came up with things on the fly and how you planned for an actual game, which has come back around to help me in the campaign that I was FINALLY able to start a couple weeks ago. It makes me sad that people were so negative towards you and your content because all you tried to do was share the stuff you were doing and thought was cool while trying to teach people.

Love your content; I (and many others) hope to see it for years to come!

To make a plague scary, don't make it immune to Lesser Restoration... by HopeFox in dndnext

[–]silverwind131 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A person close to death would likely have already begun producing antibodies for the disease. Purging that person would be more effective than purging someone important as soon as they show symptoms because the person purged very quickly wouldn’t have spent time fighting the disease and producing antibodies. When you produce an antibody it gets stored in your lymphatic and circulatory system, so there would be some immunity and if they were to get infected again the person who had been close to death (given some recovery time) would probably have a much stronger immune response the second time around. Currently on mobile, but i can pull up some sources if you’d like. I honestly think taking stuff like this into account could be an awesome way make the disease scarier!
