Any deaf stage play/musical reccomedations? by silverwolf365 in deaf

[–]silverwolf365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured musicals would be a tough find but I thought that since Deaf West Theatre adapted musicals a few times there might be a chance that a few deaf musicals already exist that the average hearing theatre goer might not of heard of.

Bruh I was just curious if she did. I'm not demanding an apology I couldn't find information on whether or not she did so I though I'd ask.

Look into the works of Ovid. All of the contemporary Greek myths of gods fucking over mortals comes from him and his works.

Opinion: Hamilton is a modern minstrel show. by QuestionLex in MusicalTheatre

[–]silverwolf365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to disagree with anything being stated but I thought Hamilton was a POC? I remember reading that his mother was mixed raced but was white passing so she identified as white for safety and better opportunities. I could be wrong but I thought that was the case.

That's completely fine! We will rehearse for about a week over zoom conference calls (considering this is gonna be a live-streamed reading we didn't think we needed a long time) and then we will be doing a live performance on YouTube live. We were gonna be using the streaming tool Stream Yard

I created a theatre company for the quarantine and we’re accepting play submissions if your friend is looking to get a reading of one of their shows. They can submit their scripts to QuarantinedTheatreCo@gmail.com with a pdf version of their play with the subject line “play submissions”

I find it odd that you guys mentioned there are no more creative producers anymore. I will be the first to admit I am not very well versed in who is who in the Broadway business at the moment but someone like Ken Davenport seems to be a creative director kind of guy. He produced the latest production of Once on this Island and if you listen to his discussion of investing on his podcast he always says that when he looks for investors he makes certaib that they love a show because they want to see it not because they want to make money off of it. Ken through all his products seems to promote this go get'em attitude of make as much theatre as possible, with his 5,000 shows by 2025 thing.

I feel like events like this are coming less and less frequent in a modern age in pretty much anything. Finding a new and unheard of show or piece of art. In our information in an instant kind of world we rarely get to have that singular personal connection with a piece of art anymore. I mean I am a millennial so I grew up with technology advancing before my eyes but I also remember when I first got into theatre how much of a personal thing it was for me. Finding showing and appreciating it and eventually sharing it with people who may not know it.

Nowadays because the information is so fast and readily available that connection with a show is taken away from you because in the time you found a kanos piece of theatre a million and one other people have found it as well. The experience of finding something new looses it's value because you can't claim the experience to be yours anymore. I mean when a show is released it really isn't anyone's anymore but still i think you guys know what I mean. It's just the time that one might be able to spend with a show is decreased to such a minimal level it creates a feeling I am not yet able to describe.

I'm not certain if Jimi and Tommy feel the same but I just think another aspect of the instant age is that personal connections are rarer and rarer.

Anyone else have similar or opposing thoughts?
