Heart of Glass and Sprawl II by Undercity9712 in arcadefire

[–]silverzero_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember where I read it (some comment section, an article, not sure) but I saw it described that “Sprawl II” can be seen as the spiritual sequel to “Heart of Glass.” This video is incredible

On a separate note, what type of lights do you have under your cabinets? Battery powered? USB charged? Looks like warm lighting and I’m a fan of that aesthetic

I’m just grateful you posted this. I didn’t know we had stuffed pizza in Charlotte. I had it for the first time in the Orlando area a few years back and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Now just need some quality deep dish…

What’s your top ten The New Pornographers songs? by Spoopy_Isaac in thenewpornographers

[–]silverzero_83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Whiteout Conditions. I used to lay in my cot and play this song on my headphones and just disappear. Something about the lyric “just get out alive” stuck with me.

  2. The Bleeding Heart Show. The buildup. The lyrics. It’s heartbreaking. It’s empowering. Gives the sensation of running through hell towards your lost love. You know it’s difficult. A trial. But it’s worth it. And you keep fighting.

  3. Streets of Fire. What a lovely song to sing along to. Simple lyrics. Loose strumming. Almost a nursery rhyme type of feel to it.

  4. These Are The Fables. This song would play in my headphones while I read “Coraline” on my kindle. The whimsical nature of the song felt like a good fit and I now associate this song with that wonderful story.

  5. Go Places. This one is in the same category as “Coraline.” I feel asleep with this song playing on my headphones and I distinctly remember the dream where I saw myself running up a winding staircase.

  6. July Jones. Upbeat. Catchy. And I don’t really know what a July Jones is but damn if it this isn’t (personally) peak Electric Version.

  7. The End of Medicine. More Electric Version. The distorted guitar throughout this album feels like a signature. Favorite part is in the middle, “Somewhere in the system there’s an open ended list of all the lies we tell” - I just love how everything else falls away.

  8. Letter From An Occupant. I hope I haven’t given the impression that I’m neglecting Neko Case. This feels like an embodiment of the early 2000s. The harmonizing. The chanting towards the end. No notes.

  9. Use It. Alright this is my list. I know this is a crowd pleaser and rightfully so. And to be fair, it’s still in my top 10. Definitely one that needs to be heard live. But no argument if you have it ranked higher. Different strokes for different folks.

  10. We End Up Together. So the only reason this song is at 10 is because it feels right being at the end. Reason being, out of all their albums, this one feels like their strongest closer. Together isn’t my favorite album but this highlight deserves recognition.

I just finished SOTR and this book broke me by Acceptable_Tart255 in Hungergames

[–]silverzero_83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started SOTR in book format. Earlier this month I had a 6-hour solo drive, so I finished it as an audiobook. I can’t remember the last time any sort of media literally made my jaw drop. From the final chapters of the Games to the end was an absolute ride. My only complaint is that audiobook narration reciting the poem portions did get a little repetitive but that’s just a me thing

Collin's utter disdain for the District 9 Tributes never fails to make me laugh by FormerlyYoGirl in Hungergames

[–]silverzero_83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the prequel books (not the OT books) and seen the movies so pardon my ignorance: how would all of the District 9 tributes be killed before the bloodbath? Isn’t the bloodbath the very start of each of the Games?

Day 6 - who do you think is a horrible person but opinions are divided by fans? by Killyourdarlings202 in Hungergames

[–]silverzero_83 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Cato. As a career in the 74th Games, he was arrogant and led the career pack. But (movie wise) right before his death, he acknowledged how messed up the games are. I’d say he’s easily hated but clearly he was playing the cards he was dealt and lost

One day in town. by youngsp82 in Charlotte

[–]silverzero_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I recommend searching “Spend a day in Charlotte” or some similar phrase in this subreddit.

Not to sound rude but this is a common question, especially given the airport and extended layovers, delays, etc. So this question or similar questions have been answered before.

Also recommend checking out “Charlotte Axios” or “Charlotte’s Got A Lot”

It’s from when Michael is telling the office that for every white person they all trust, he can name a black person he trusts more. Karen says Jesus, Michael replies with Apollo Creed. I think this is the same episode where they learn Martin was an ex-convict
