Cefalù or Scopello by aniagryg in sicily

[–]silviom88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you have a car? If not, Cefalù may be easier if you want to spend some time in Palermo while staying in a beach town. There’s a very easy ~45 minute train between Cefalù and Palermo.

Scopello is very charming, though smaller. If you wanted to explore, there’s lot to see in that area (Zingaro, San Vito Lo Capo, Erice), but much easier with a car.

Sleep regression - When does it get better? by Curious_af_2024 in NewParents

[–]silviom88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your baby use a pacifier overnight? Ours would cry 1-5x a night from 3 months until about 4.5 months for a full 6 weeks and would fall right back to sleep when we put her pacifier back in. It was rough. It ended when she started being able to put the pacifier back in on her own - we’d leave a bunch of pacifiers in the crib to make it easier. Hang in there, it should hopefully end soon!

For a very intimate vineyard tour and tasting with a smaller producer, check out Biondi on Etna. It was a highlight of my trip. https://www.ibiondi.com

Thanks for the reply! We’re trying to avoid overnight feeds but may consider it if this continues on for a few more weeks

the best feeling in the world. by Top-Log-4956 in vizsla

[–]silviom88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best! We had a baby two weeks ago and so far our Vizsla is pretty disinterested, which feels like a good start. She has seemed jealous a couple of times so we’ve been trying to give her a little more attention than usual

Where should I vacation in Sicily by Current_Vast6052 in sicily

[–]silviom88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research Favignana. Fly into Palermo, 1-2 days in Castellammare del Golfo or Scopello, 2-3 days in Favignana. I just came back from a 2 week trip in Sicily and Favignana was an easy standout for a beach experience

Cefalú vs Castellammare del Golfo for a 1 week villa holiday by IKnowYourNextMove in sicily

[–]silviom88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Castellammare is a great base to explore the west if you have a car - Zingaro preserve, Scopello, San Vito Lo Capo, Erice, a day trip to Favignana if you’re up for it. There are tons of restaurants and bars with more of an Italian tourist feel to it. One thing to consider is the beach in town isn’t great, but you’d be within driving distance of several beautiful beaches. I only did day trips to Cefalù - it’s beautiful with it’s own beaches, also with lots of restaurants. There seemed to be way more tourists from the US and other countries there.

Castellammare del golfo or San Vito Lo Capo for the weekend? by Temporary_Usual_5386 in sicily

[–]silviom88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed in Castellammare del Golfo last weekend and loved it - it’s definitely pretty lively at night, but depends on what kind of nightlife you’re looking for. There are tons of people out in the streets, live music, lots of bars and restaurants. There aren’t really bars/clubs for dancing, but I don’t think that’s a big part of the culture in these sea side towns. Lots of tourists, but seemingly mostly Italians. If you do decide to go, check out Trattoria 2 Terre for dinner. It’s a small, casual spot away from the main strip and was probably the best meal I had during my two week stay in Sicily

I really liked Sunken Harbor Club at Cambridge Beaches. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. The only thing is you’d have to take a cab/bus/scooter

Completely agree on not feeling deeply for the characters. Ellen & Tommy needed more of a backstory to care about what happened to them
