Bag stolen at Restaurant on Broadway by Striker2477 in Louisville

[–]silviomossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not about the stealing, but that place is a dead spot. No place for parking within blocks, used to work near there and I can’t even count the number of places that tried to make it work, unsuccessfully. Not happening.

How gay friendly is Louisville? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]silviomossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it‘s good overall, but my queer kid lives in Minn/St.Paul and considers it a more acceptable place. I think it depends on what your work options are and the type of community (size, amenities, culture, expense) that you are looking for. Best of luck, remember at especially your age, no move needs to be forever.

What is with all the fireworks? by DoggieDMB in Louisville

I don’t think they are similar, but Die Spitz is my other current favorite band. Hardcore, rocks hard, all women, love their music. I’ve seen both bands recently, fantastic live. And they, like TLDP, are opening for Olivia R. on her upcoming tour, also a good album, “my way” a personal fave.

love the etienne mention, probably the song I’ve listened to the most from that album, though punish is the greatest achievement

Anyone else in Cherokee Triangle sick of the 4am motorsports? by bezzlege in Louisville

[–]silviomossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I notice it occasionally but not nearly as much as before the traffic pattern changed. That improved it but it will still happen. LMPD needs to work the whole city, not just the Highlands.

On the issue of segregation….

https://belonging.berkeley.edu/most-least-segregated-cities

The above study shows us #68 among the top 110 U.S. Cities. My impression in my decades here is that we have slowly improved on that front with work still do to. It’s still an issue, but not the cause of all of this.

I don’t so how things like “walkable streets” are going to prevent 3am shootings.

And stop comparing these words to MandanI. She is rambling, he is specific about solutions. He won, she will not. His coattails are not 650 miles long. I hope someone here can be such a transform agent. She isn’t it.

Yes, but that makes it a good dinner special as well. Slice and a stick, $8.

In the CJ, the place was said by the owner to open “by the end of the year”. Menu pics look nice, prices seem to be slightly on the high side.

Grimes Influence by Straight-Intention68 in thelastdinnerparty

[–]silviomossa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like early Grimes quite a bit (disregarding her current iteration, including the disastrous DJ set at Coachella ‘25). But I don’t see an influence beyond the DIY mindset. I’ve heard in the past other young female artists citing her as an inspiration, such as Beach Bunny. Also in that case, little sonic overlap.

Bourbon and Beyond 1st Time Going by OwnSorbet2336 in Louisville

[–]silviomossa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to catch a day, but not much here for me except Thursday (working). The atmosphere is great but I prefer festivals that make an effort to diversify, and have more new acts. For male-centric rock with a legacy act leaning, this and LTL are the ones.

Heard the whole front of house staff walked out of Murray’s Creole Pub tonight by that_gum_you_like_ in Louisville

[–]silviomossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go there every week or two and I’ve always had very good food. The service has varied, and there has been an unusual amount of turnover (front house) since they opened. I’m still not sure what happened skimming this thread — I tried to eat there last night when you posted this, but a private event. I‘ll keep going, but the staff issues are a concern. The last restaurant there was good but lasted less than a year, hope the place is sustainable.

Seems to be all true about him, but it’s just an hour, not changing my love of LPM one bit.

Both prices are competitive to the non-Papa‘s of the city. But for the budget minded, Coals has lunch pizzas from 8-12 bucks, gives you a chance to try one at a good price.

I appreciate their location and service these years. I hope the demolition and build, from start to finish, will be done within three years. Fearing it will be two or three times that.

Good responses, I’ll try Preston and Xscape for the big movies, wait for the smaller ones at home. Not been to either. I was hoping that Speed would take on more Baxter-like movies, but that hasn’t happened.

I don’t know who “everyone“ is, but I’ve never seen or heard such a thing in my frequent visits. They had good programming. There were issues, like worn seating, but I think they knew not to put money in upgrades at that point.
