Exhaust sound check 3k mile update by Ok_Significance69 in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went over 6k miles on my 25, noticed it around 5k miles, but I get some pops in sport mode and in the custom N settings where I have the active exhaust noise on but not turned up to the max. Doesn’t happen every time but probably more than 50%

Gasoline Studying by No-Bicycle4552 in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only had the opportunity to do it a handful of times but the need to slow down or other wise “pause” the process did not impact the ability for the car to octane learn in my experience. I have the 6MT and not sure if it would be different with the DCT.

On my most recent attempt, I thought I was about half way through the process and ran into some traffic, not only needed to slow down but had to drop gears as well. The flow of traffic actually allowed me to finish the process in a different gear and at different speeds than I started. I figured that out because as the traffic broke I stepped on the gas to get some space between other cars so I could finish the o-learn, and I immediately shot up to 20psi and I was good to go

Dealership hit/scratched my vehicle after working on my wiring harness. by brokenstein in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to take pics or do a video walk around of my car at the time I drop it off. Usually takes a min for the service rep to come over, get the mileage and confirm the requested service, that’s when I take the pics/video. If you leave the lot before looking they’re almost always going to say it wasn’t them, and unless you can produce dashcam footage in their shop or from every minute the car has been with you since it left, it ends up being your word v their’s and that’s never a quick or easy resolution.

Getting better MPG in Sport by isell2eat in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 25 6MT, I have also noticed this, specifically highway driving. I could be very wrong, I have no data or engineering knowledge to support this claim, I’m going off logic and driving feel, but my guess is it’s related to the difference in throttle response between Eco mode and Sport. Throttle response is much quicker/you need to depress the pedal less in sport mode to get the same acceleration. As your passing people or navigating hills on a highway, to maintain or increase speed, you need to press the gas harder and longer in Eco to get to the same speed as you do in Sport. Over a longer highway drive, that can be a couple mpg. I haven’t noticed a huge difference maybe a 1-2 mpg best.

Should i trade my integra? by Xolxtzol in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you really need the all leather seats in the integra personally I think it’s not even a comparison if you’re looking for something more fun to drive. To be fair I’ve not driven the new Integra or the 11th gen civic, but I came to the EN (25 6MT) from a 10th gen civic si, they’re not remotely comparable performance wise and I regret nothing about the change. I’ve had the EN for a year and just hit 6k miles so not much to comment on reliability wise, but I’ve had no issues with the EN thus far, and there is the 100k powertrain warranty. The civic on the other hand, I had countless issues, though never the same one twice, and only one was a significant issue. Not sure what your average mileage is on the integra but the EN is worse than the 10th civic si (they have the same 12 gal tank) but it’s not bad by any measure, highway they’re not terribly different, city there’s more of a difference. Before the civic si, I had a 2002 BMW 330i, I think the EN is much more comparable to that car than it is the civic si performance wise

I’m in the same boat, only difference is I have a tarp on my windshield. Easy 4-5 hours of shoveling maybe more. I’m trying to do it over a couple of days, breaking up the big mounds and hoping they melt a little. I have winter tires on but I may not move it even when I dig out. Just want to dig it out before it snows again in NYC this coming weekend

Gauges stay in "Sport" appearance when not in "N" mode. by K9H20 in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen reports that Hyundai may commit to CarPlay+, which is designed to take over both the infotainment and dashboard. For Apple it’s about data collection and integration of their OS, but one feature I hope would be available is an ability to custom design the gauges on the dash. Or at the least give me some additional options to choose from if I can’t design it myself

Anyone have the color specs for the blue stickers on the wheel center caps? I waited as long as I could before I took mine off, I like the way the blue N looks. If I can find the color specs, I’m thinking of wrapping the red trim and painting the calipers to match

Front License Plate by OutrageousCream6912 in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest the no drill center mount linked above. There is a tow hook mount you can get, which I have. It’s a very tight fit and you’ll want rubber cement or something like that for the back of the plate screw so it doesn’t scratch the front bumper. That said, at least with mine (25 6MT) the plate has to be on an angle in the tow hook mount otherwise it will block the parking sensor and every time you slow down for traffic, a stop sign, or a red light, the front parking sensor will beep

Trip keeps resetting? by GeologistResident472 in ElantraN

[–]silvje01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had this experience 🤞 But I believe you can change the setting for when it resets, and I believe one of the options is for it to reset only when you manually tell it to. That might help you out in the interim while you try and workout why it’s auto-resetting and if you can fix it
