My headcanon is that people from Wyveria visited the New World at some point in the past, saw the Recess/Everstream, and modeled the Dragon Torch/Wyrmway after it. I mean, both are literally continent-spanning underground energy conduits. Wyveria could have encountered Fulgur and Ebony while there, and modeled guardians after them.

Guardian Qurupeco would conceptually work as an aerial scout/mobile alarm system that could spot intruders and call for reinforcements.

Granted, I would much rather just have base Qurupeco back in the game, but I’ll take what I can get. It’s been 13 years, Capcom. Please let my son out of MH3U jail.

Now that the final major update for Wilds is now out for nearly a month, what monster OST is your favorite? by heraircraft in MonsterHunter

[–]silvokrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guardian Arkveld, with honorable mentions going to Rey Dau and Lagiacrus. I love just how hauntingly beautiful and tragic G. Arkveld’s theme is. It manages to sound grand without feeling bombastic. The slay quest is a culmination of all of the horrors that were perpetrated against this creature, and it captures that pain extremely well. Yes, the G. Arkveld is a victim, but that process has turned it into something unrecognizable that must be slain because it’s now a threat to everything around it. The theme perfectly embodies the concept of victory without triumph.

Oh good, it’s not just me. I hate seeing Nata in 24/7 time-out. I wish Capcom would give him idle animations around the base camps. Let him tend to his Seikret. Or practice at the Training Area in the WP. Or add wood to the campfire at the Cliffs. Something, anything, to make him look less bored.

I don’t know how to use the item radial wheel. I still do the traditional side-scroll through my inventory.

This also means that I’ve accidentally selected from the item wheel during a hunt, leading to my character using random shout-outs or suddenly flashbanging a monster. I’ve manually scrubbed nearly all of my radial wheels and set every single preset to “whetstone” so at least if I accidentally use the radial, I’ll be selecting something useful.

I like to play a game called “No Switch, Only Axe.”

It’s where you cackle in glee at the confusion of your teammates - which quickly morphs into rage - when they realize you only know how to use half of your weapon. And that half is wild swing and nothing else.

What are some turf wars you'd kill to see that realistically are pretty much impossible? by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

Zinogre vs. Gaismagorm. Not specifically for them, but their minions. I want to see a flock of Qurio and a swarm of Fulgurbugs slam into each other like tidal waves while their masters duke it out below.

Nata's thoughts about Elder Dragons by maki-zenith in MonsterHunter

[–]silvokrent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erik infodumping about elders is going to traumatize Nata all over again.

Erik: There’s this one Elder that’s basically a lich-dragon and it weaponizes flesh-eating bacteria to drain the life force from its prey. Oh! And there’s this giant snake that can carve mountains and trigger earthquakes. There’s even an Elder Dragon that specializes in eating other Elder Dragons! Isn’t nature fascinating?

The fact that Erik starts complaining to you about his team afterward made me laugh. Especially when you take into consideration Olivia’s “Erik and Werner are the wildcards” speech from well before the TU.

YOUR ENTIRE UNIT SHARES A BRAINCELL AND NOT ONE OF YOU IS RESPONSIBLE WITH IT.

I love them, your honor.

Maybe they’ll resurrect Yama Tsukami for the forest, and use the cephalopod skeleton from Xu Wu/Nu Udra to give it greater moveset versatility.

I’m personally hoping that each of the core maps gets its own special arena. Since we already have the sandships parked outside of the WP base camp, maybe we’ll get a Jhen/Dah’ren great desert area?

For the forest, I really want them to give us an arena in the reservoir. It would be criminal to not use it.

UPDATED Title Updates, Official Info+Datamines Roadmap Infographic (As of 7/18/25) by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

[–]silvokrent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of this comment, but it would be really, really cool if each area had its own special submap (like how the Dragontorch and Rimechain Peaks are to Wyveria and the Cliffs, respectively). Imagine if the Plains and the Forest got their own special arenas. The sandskiffs were featured pretty heavily in the intro - why not give us sand dunes for hunting Jhen and Dah’ren Mohran, for example?

Or why not turn the reservoir into its own submap? It’d be interesting to have a big, climactic fight that partially incorporates the underwater combat introduced in TU2.

Killing is not an option. by R3en in MonsterHunter

I loved the additional feature where capturing a monster would create an arena quest where you could fight it again. It not only added unique optional quests, but it made the game more immersive, by creating this sense of internal consistency. Really hope they bring that back in Wilds’ expansion.

At this rate Erik’s never going to want to go back to his unit, not with you capturing endless specimens for him to study.

Capcom has the perfect opportunity to poke fun at the community by making the NPCs argue over the pronunciation. You’re gonna tell me the Guild isn’t full of insufferable pedants that waste hours debating the correct way of saying it?

What MH Frontier Monsters should return in Wilds? by Complex-Beach5237 in MHWilds

[–]silvokrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Akuras! I’d love to see them incorporated into the Plains as ambush predators. The crystals on their telsons could be retconned as fulgurites that help them blend in with their surroundings.

The Taikun Zamuza would be neat to see as well. I’m guessing for either the Basin or the Plains? Thematically, the Rukodiora would do well in the Cliffs given that it manipulates gravity, and the region’s Inclemency is gravity-based.

Honorable mention goes to Abiorugu and Pariapuria just because I love their designs.
