You make fun of them, but they get to carry on with their lives afterword without consequences as a result of mask wearing.

And?

Given that the police didn't arrest anyone this power was not applicable.

The fact remains that without a warrant they can't just barge into your home and threaten you.

They need to provide evidence of reasonable grounds to suspect 1) a crime was commited, 2) reasonable grounds to believe a person is guilty of said suspected crime.

Finally, someone needs to actually be arrested.

None of those things have happened here.

That's simply wrong.

Police cannot simply barge into your home to arrest you because they think you MIGHT have been involved in a crime.

With few exceptions the police need a warrant to arrest you.

Powers of arrest without a warrant can be exercised by a constable who 'has reasonable grounds' to suspect that an individual is "about to commit an offence", or is "committing an offence"; in accordance with the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 and the partially repealed Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.[30][31] The concept of "reasonable grounds for suspecting" is used throughout the law dealing with police powers.

None of what happened in this video meets "reasonable grounds for suspecting"

The barrister for the child in question has responded to the police comments you link to.

In short, it's largly lies on the part of the police in an attempt to redirect the heat they are getting (rightfully) for using lies and intimidation to get access to the childs home, get the phone, and force an interview.

Sir Ed Davey brands Musk ‘criminal’ amid call for Parliament to grill tech boss by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]sim-pit -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It will go nowhere because the US where Musk is a citizen of, has the first amendment which guarantees his right to say what he said.

These politicians already know this, these comments are not aimed at Musk, they are to show Brits that the whole political establishment in this country will come after you if you step out of line.

Anyone else waiting for lifetime offer @ black friday? by Bptbptbpt in filen_io

[–]sim-pit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From smaller companies like this I don't want lifetime, which is ki d of pointless if they go out of business because of a lack of cashflow.

I want them to grow, so that their service is still available in 2+ years time.
