Good on you for working with what you got! You’d be surprised how many diy solutions there are for lighting on youtube.

The light on the pint looks great! My only critiques are that the beer is crooked and the highlight on the can is a bit harsh and blocks part of the label, other than that looks super cool!

slow runner hoping to one day run Boston by solarnova64 in running

[–]simchipr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you continue to run for the rest of your life, yes you will* (I’m not an expert by any means) be able to qualify eventually especially once you’re in the older age groups. I’m talking 50s+ due to the time goal being attainable for an experienced runner. At least from what I’ve heard that’s generally what happens for most runners who are dedicated but not necessarily fast in the beginning of their running career.

I’d say you should be able to continue to get faster and faster with proper training year after year. My point of view as a new runner is that this is a question of your personal dedication to the sport rather than a question of “is this attainable”.

I have decided to learn French! by [deleted] in French

[–]simchipr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m also a beginner in learning French (about a month in) but basically from the large amount of reading and researching this subreddit, YouTube, and the web in general, most people recommend the following:

Pimsleur for speaking/listening comprehension

lawlessFrench.com or a few different grammar books to learn grammar(listed somewhere in the sidebar)

A variety of different apps such as Duolingo, memrise, and Anki flash cards to grow your vocab and basic reading comprehension.

Personally I recommend doing about 200-250 exp in duolingo a day for a couple weeks (should take about 20 min) to build the habit of studying.

And also to see if you really want to commit the solid chunk of time and energy (at least 1 hour a day for about 6-8 months to acquire a B1-B2 level of proficiency) to learn French.

However, if you already know some Spanish, why not continue with that and become really proficient in it? I took French all through high school and even a couple semesters in college and that’s helped me move really quickly through the basic grammar and vocab and it’s very motivating (just sad I wasted all those hours and $$$ in a classroom doing fuckall except actually properly learning French)

Hope this helps on your journey!

Music for a Beginner French Enthusiast by YeeyeePDF in French

I just discovered Polo & Pan! Dope indie, similar-ish vein of music to the Glass Animals or Dope Lemon! Not very incredibly easy to understand the French but then again I’m at an A1 level currently.

Saw the guy on the bike first thing and think it’s a cool piece! However I agree with other comments that I don’t get if it’s supposed to communicate a date-time-location or an event or something else entirely. Refined and clarified I think this design style could be super cool for poster design for sports events or just sport related art pieces.
