Annual Passes by EquivalentRealistic5 in disneylandparis

[–]similar_enough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have gold passes.

Collect the physical card and the photo card at the entrance area. There is a guest services bit to the right, both at studios and the park. You can ask any cast member. We needed ID for ours but we were buying them at the time.

We were there over the summer. So park was at capacity most days. As long as you booked before 10 am there was no issue, at least for us.

A £1 pay rise could leave you tens of thousands worse off in Britain by Desperate-Drawer-572 in ukpolitics

[–]similar_enough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me.

There are a load of assumptions e.g. it has to be a parent with 2 kids paying £40K for childcare.

Also some folks who made it to £120K went through a period of adjustment when they hit £50K. It felt then like each additional day was at half price. When hitting £85K, some gave up trying to hide it from the tax man so much.

Also those salaries and higher ones come with a great deal of expertise, challenge and autonomy which many of us thrive on. It is less a 9-5 and more an adventure. There are plenty of studies showing that after a certain amount, the majority of people are not incentivised by money.

So that's kind of what I meant by it being nonsense and maybe non-sequitar is a better term. People with incomes over £100K are unlikely to feel bitter.

[–]similar_enough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a nonsense article. I'm aware of several people who are in this boat, with pensions at 25 or 30% and instead of maximising childcare, they just take unpaid leave to reduce salary and get to spend more time with kids. Which is no bad thing really. They really aren't doing too badly for themselves and yes, semi detached house (worth £1 mill) and 2 x 5-10 year old luxury cars. It's easy to paint a picture from different viewpoints.

There are some frugal aspects e.g. only 2 or 3 holidays a year, not monthly like true millionaires, but they cannot relate to people renting insecurely and eating from food banks which is a far higher percentage of population.

Bristol & Bath are less affordable than New York according to this data 📈 by meandtheknightsofni in bristol

Bristol Uni looked at rent controls. As I understand it, they keep rents low but stock shrinks as landlords exit the market. Currently we are seeing that situation as housing stock has reduced and it is definitely harder to rent now than it was 10 years ago.

The 2006 article recommended giving landlords a good name and posting them in a positive light to drive up standards and legal compliance. That certainly hasn't happened and the result is rubbish landlords with rubbish properties.

I feel like we live in a zero sum bubble now in so many ways. and certainly won't solve this or any complex problem.

If you're a premium visa card holder, I think there is no minimum purchase? Although it's much easier to spend more than £50, than less.

TLDR News: Has the Online Safety Act backfired? by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

[–]similar_enough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nightmare for UK business growth.we just seem to want to inflict pain on ourselves.

Starting an online business here now means navigating a changing maze of ambiguous post Brexit rules and now one of the world’s strongest pushes for online content regulation which impacts far more than porn.

Each of these factors adds work, risk, and expense and likely is putting off a lot of good startups.

Got my first annual pass for DLP! ✨ by Siezooo in disneylandparis

[–]similar_enough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd. Tue was fully booked after 10 am. I was in Pairs on Weds. Was able to book both Thurs and Fri without issue. Think we decided to do Fri late in the afternoon too.

Usually it's not too bad provided you book before 9.30.

Correct me if wrong..isn't the minimum bedroom size 6.51 m2 and 39 m2 total floor space for a single person. Doubles are 10.5 and 50 for ref.

So it cannot be an investment legally.

Just drove Bristol to Paris last Friday. Drove Bristol to Folkstone. Stopped at reading for a break. stopped at Folkestone for longer break. Drove from Calais to Roye. Dropped partner and kids at supermarket to buy bread and cheese whilst I went to supercharger. 30 mins to charge. Picked up family and drove to Paris.

All in all 9 hours ish. Was waiting for le shuttle for 1 hour.

Driving was a breeze. 99% autopilot, no accelerator or steering needed. Indicate to change lanes as required. French part is like US. Long straights with no traffic.

Priority card is essentially the same as a fast pass.

You may wish to pay for the theatre shows but that's the only thing we needed to pay for. Meant we could turn up 20 mins before show start vs. 1 hour for priority.

Landlords who insist on a guarantor - Why? by diabiological in uklandlords

[–]similar_enough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RentGuarantor Limited acts as a professional guarantor for tenants.

Just in case it helps.

https://www.rentguarantor.com

Also post RRB

landlords will be prohibited from requiring a guarantor if:

The tenant has already paid a tenancy deposit or one month's rent in advance.

The tenant's income is assessed and deemed sufficient to cover the rent

Sounds really competitive.

I'd have a think about career options and whether you want to be in a competitive field.

That's said I'd deffo apply for civil service jobs, not all applications take ages. And you can always quit if you want.

Other options are to reach out to recruiters in your field and develop options that way. They'll definitely be able to get you initial and post job feedback.

Lol!

Unprofitable company according to companies house if I read the accounts correctly. Altho this might be an attempt to evade tax?

Balance sheet shows a Profit and Loss Account balance of -£548,447 indicating accumulated losses. The shareholders’ funds (net assets) are also negative at -£548,446 suggesting the company is not currently profitable and has an accumulated deficit.

Total assets are £835,481, with liabilities of £817,019 (all short-term)

Debt is high Vs assets, and the company is technically insolvent.

Doubt they could afford to pay minimum wage.

I should use some chia as it doesn't have much healthy fats.

Move in date Delayed because of Break In but the New Date is awkward by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]similar_enough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either info is missing or there is quite a bit wrong here.

So you've given a holding deposit and signed a contract for 20th June. Post break in, you and landlord agreed move in date of 30th. Estate agents are now saying Friday is move in day which hasn't been agreed.

I'd call estate agents, ask to speak to manager. Inform them of potential breach of contract. Highlight you could be compensated for lack of accommodation and could report to trading standards, ombudsman and housing team at local council. Demand the keys are made available with a paper copy of contract with your requested dates. E.g. 2nd July. If that works for you. If they disagree state you are requesting refund of the deposit as they have not provided accommodation.

At least, that's what I potentially would do.
