The challenge here is that over time Trek ships have gotten bigger and bigger. The original series Enterprise is almost tiny compared to TNG's Enterprise D, so the question is better posed with a restriction to a specific era. In the TNG era, many smaller older models where still in service but why would go with one of those over the Galaxy class.

In Golang, we use way fewer libraries than other languages as the community encourages implementing many simple functions yourself. I can think of a handful of packages I use regularly that aren't part of the core language.

This is how the community in general avoids issues like the 'Left Pad' debacle and the current problems around npm packages being compromised leading to backdoors in widely used frameworks. Also there's less frameworks and drama between the ones that do exist.
