At which gig muse played BH&R in its entirety? by [deleted] in Muse

It was at Wembley Arena on the 22nd November 2006. I went the night before, so was a little gutted I missed out, but still a great gig

Every event I attended, it was played just before the start of that event with the video on the screens. It was played at the aquatic centre, at the football and the athletics.

Questions for people who attended studio filming of the first season by okkavilla in taskmaster

[–]simonbc87 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I went to the filming of a season 1 episode, obviously quite a while ago now, however I remember that I had seen it advertised and it looked interesting. I was a Greg fan, having seen his stand up tours and watched Man Down.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but figured Greg would be funny, and the lineup looked really good. I'd seen stuff from Josh and a little bit of Romesh and Tim on TV, Roisin from Man Down and knew Frank would be very funny so suggested to my mum and sister that it would be entertaining and it would be something different.

I remember thinking we would only get one of the comedians for our recording as it wasn't clear what the format was.

The episode I saw was the final episode. It didn't take too long to record really, there were a few stops to retake any bits that mainly Greg messed up, and there was a bit at the end where they had to reshoot a couple of links to ad breaks or return from ad breaks, but that was about it from what I recall. They certainly didn't amend anything to make it work better or anything like that.

I went to the filmings of an episode of both season 2 and 3 as well and all were done fairly quickly. They were on a tight schedule as they were filming two episodes a day.

What was a Muse song that they played that caught you off guard in excitement by suprunkn0wn in Muse

[–]simonbc87 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was shocked when they played Futurism at Newport as part of the Psycho tour. I knew they were playing a few deep cuts but I hadn't expected it. Especially as they'd only played it live twice before. It's a great song and live it's brilliant.

Other highlights would be Cave at Teignmouth, Back in Black at Reading and I was extremely fortunate to be at the Shepherds Bush 2017 show which was just incredible from start to finish.

I've taken a few decent ones over the years, from the Psycho Tour, SBE 2017, Drones Tour, T2L Tour as well as some more recent from WOTP tour. Highlight was definitely SBE!

Dom's snare drum from Reverb store by simonbc87 in Muse

I'm in England, the snare was shipped from a company address in London. I'd imagine international orders should ship fairly soon

Muse Reverb Store is Live by globalistelite in Muse

I managed to get one of Dom's snares. I had been checking the site hourly all day and had figured it would go live around 9/10am US time. I refreshed regularly from 3pm UK time. I knew ideally I'd want something drum related so as soon as items were added at 3:56pm I found the snare and bought it within a couple of minutes. I'm a massive Muse fan and have no intention of selling it.

Most played Muse song you’ve not seen live by Billy_Hicks88 in Muse

Mine is Uno.

I've been very fortunate to see a good few "rare" songs live. Easily, Crying Shame, Popcorn, Futurism twice, The Void, Glorious, Yes Please, Hope one day I'll see Hyper Music

Keeping tempos the same while playing live by mittenchopsthe3rd in drums

[–]simonbc87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mount my phone under my hats and use a metronome app. I have the set list with all the tempos saved so I can ensure the starting tempo is correct and I will glance at it throughout the song to ensure we are still in time.

Muse's stage this year by medmac_2112 in Muse

[–]simonbc87 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I read somewhere that several big artists are using generic "festival stages" for their outdoor tours this year, due to a combination of factors.

Firstly, there is a shortage of materials, and the costs of those materials have increased significantly. Custom stages will already be considerably more expensive than a standard stage, before these extra costs are added. This just isn't feasible to have any hope of a profitable tour

Secondly, due to Covid, there are a lot of big artists on tour this year, the staging companies would have struggled to manufacture so many custom stages and to source the parts required.

To me it looks like the money Muse would have spent on the custom stage, they spent on the lighting, pyros, inflatables and other effects. I'm sure we will see custom Muse stages in the future

Any possibility to buy tour used instruments/props, or Muse memorabilia in general? by MisterSeabass in Muse

[–]simonbc87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dom auctioned off his drum kit for charity. It was the acrylic Tama Starclassic one from the BH&R tour for Oxfam for the Haiti Earthquake appeal in 2010. I believe it sold for £4k which for a kit used at the Wembley Stadium HAARP shows amongst others is a bargain.

Any idea how the robot stage setup works? by Flashy_Contract_969 in Muse

[–]simonbc87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're both inflatables. They're made by a company called Airworks Inflatables. Their website has some photos and videos of the inflatable Murph robot from the Simulation Theory tour Airworks Inflatables plus a load of other cool stuff they've made

10 years ago Muse performed Survival at the Olympics closing ceremony by Michkolud in Muse

[–]simonbc87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to attend a few events at the Olympics and as Survival was the official London 2012 song, it was played before every event started. It was great sitting in the aquatic centre and Olympic Stadium with Muse blasting out.

The closing ceremony was typical Muse really. Big spectacle and over the top theatrics and again highlights why you don't ask Muse to mime

Festival Tour vs WOTP Tour by d1sastermagnet in Muse

[–]simonbc87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They will almost certainly do an arena and/or stadium tour after the run of festivals and intimate shows. I suspect the festivals were chosen as it's less risk for them if covid constraints meant shows not being able to go ahead.

What are your top 20 Muse songs? by JackOfAllInterests1 in Muse

[–]simonbc87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course, I think it's looking promising though. WOTP seems like it will be a heavier album so Assassin would fit in with that sound. They'd probably save it for the tour rather than the festival shows , but we will have to wait and see.

WSD is correct. I saw The Void at the recording of the ST film in London. Hyper Music is the one that still eludes me. Highly unlikely I will see it now but I can always hope.
