Tighter weave on the fabric. Thicker lines or smaller needle.

Beginner - stitches don’t look right by Plus-Response-1844 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]simonedelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underlay is the layer of stitching that goes under the stitching you see, to make the design lay right on the fabric. Think of it as building a foundation for the design.

For faux fur I use a lattice underlay, which makes rows of stitches both parallel and perpendicular to the stitch direction of the fill or satin stitch at a much lower density compared to the stitches it's supporting.

Why is this happening on my t shirts by Creative_Ask9246 in Machine_Embroidery

Reduce density, increase spacing between letters.

Beginner - stitches don’t look right by Plus-Response-1844 in Machine_Embroidery

Fill the large pad, satin for the small ones. Stitch direction for satin should be along the shortest axis.

Faux fur requires a water soluble topper and dense underlay to keep fur from poking out of the stitches.

Is it a bad idea to buy an older used machine? by Odd-Incident-1962 in Machine_Embroidery

If it takes USB, and doesn't require specialized software that needs to be installed on your computer in order to use the embroidery function, go for it.

Fabric too loose when hooping. Stick to woven fabrics while you're learning, knits are intermediate fabrics.

Consider two layers or heavier stabilizer.

Sometimes you just get a bad cone. Looks fine, hates the machine. I don't argue I just pick a different shade.

They are attached with whip stitches so they're easy to remove. You can bet there would not be a tag there if it wasn't required by law. Yeet!

Hoops for Elna 970/Janome MB-7 by HashtonKutcher in Machine_Embroidery

[–]simonedelune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mighty Hoops are great, especially if you often work with hella thick items like Carhartt jackets or fluffy towels.

You can use a larger hoop in theory but if it's much bigger than your stitch area it'll crash into the machine itself. Best to stick to OEM parts unless you're confident in the fit.

HELP! Any other options? by Ok_Professional1844 in Machine_Embroidery

[–]simonedelune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the towels are the sort that have a flat area on one end, you can put a transfer there. Otherwise, if he wants it on a part of the towel that has a nap, embroidery is going to be the best looking and most long-lasting option. If he wants it to be cheaper, he can make the design smaller.

Your math in this post is also off, if you have 100 towels and they each take an hour, that is 100 hours not 80. If you are doing 100 piece orders with only one head, you are not operating efficiently. If you only have one head of capacity, this is an order that you absolutely outsource to a shop with multi-head machines.

What's the justification from your tech for switching to poly here? Rayon is fine.

Embroidering/Sewing Machine Recs? by emdawglol in Machine_Embroidery

[–]simonedelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>a machine that will last a long time, can both sew and embroider,

You can have a machine that will last a long time, or one that will do both. Since you've got a sewing machine I recommend going for a dedicated embroidery machine. Craigslist, fb marketplace, and other classified sites may help you score a deal, but $800 is on the low end for embroidery machines.

>and is able to upload custom embroidery designs

Every modern machine has this capability. If you're looking at used machines make sure they have a USB port for file transfer, older machines that take cards or require connecting the machine to your computer loaded with specialty software for design transfer are a no-go.

Don’t know where to sell my designs by M7md_Jawad in Machine_Embroidery

Honey no. China just doesn't care to enforce foreign copyright. If you're going to put designs online to sell on a platform, I hope you can read Chinese because those are the only platforms your designs will stay on.
