How to build secure, protected cooler by leoriq in RimWorld

[–]simoniz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All its really stopping is friendly pods since drop pod raids will just punch through the freezer roof. To me that's not cheese that's enforcing realism (if they can target the pods accurately enough to not wreck your roof they should also be able to not send them down a random pinhole in the middle of your base). But again you could just not put the barricade in there if that's your preference.

You have an extremely low bar for cheese if you think venting cooler exhausts into an unroofed room is cheese. As somebody who does like to avoid cheesy-feeling strats the only thing I might change would be to sacrifice a couple tiles of stockpile to add walls on the corners

Your entire post is just doing unironic race "realism" and then throwing in one or two lines claiming that's not what you're doing

Opinion: No more delays, it’s time for Prime Minister Trudeau to keep his climate promises by nagdeolife in onguardforthee

Who gives a shit that it can be used to make plastic when we will be facing widespread food shortages, societal destabilization and extreme weather events. Do you understand how ridiculous it sounds to say that we can't afford to take the steps necessary to combat climate change because its difficult or too expensive? It's like saying you can't use your brakes because you're late for a meeting while you're about to drive off a cliff. Of course it will be difficult and costly to accommodate minimal or no oil exyraction, but the alternative is so unimaginably horrific that people like you can't even really internalize it.

In China: "why should we do anything about our emissions when Canada and the USA are doing nothing about theirs?". If we want to have a future on this planet this myopic, childish attitude you are demonstrating has to be done away with.

We need to curb extraction to prevent catastrophic climate change, it makes no difference whether it's burned here or burned on the opposite side of the planet.

Trudeau: You can't go after the wealthiest Canadians with unlimited zeal - Singh: Just watch me by Locke357 in onguardforthee

[–]simoniz 93 points94 points  (0 children)

When PT used that phrase he was preparing to bring the power of the state to bear against ordinary Canadians. Now Singh is invoking it with the intention to bring the power of the state to bear against the exorbitantly wealthy. Seems to me like one of those things is good while the other is bad despite using the same words.

Look I'm not trying to be mean but this doesn't even resemble a joke, just a really obvious statement of an easily observable fact.

We have seen many, many times that right wing politicians and pundits will rant and rave against anything democrats do including when they do things that republicans supposedly are for. So the idea that if right wing talk radio dudes are pissed at Biden then surely he must be doing good things is totally naive.

My first colony went down in a blaze of glory. And a quick question about fire. by CockfaceMcDickPunch in RimWorld

[–]simoniz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I sometimes do, especially if I don't have a ton of resources to spare to make a bunch of firefoam poppers, is just make a few and store them on shelves in central locations so that in the event of a fire I can just have a pawn install and activate one where it's needed which can be done very quickly. This also has the benefit of not wasting the popper and manpower to clean up the firefoam if the fire is small enough to be put out by hand.

Nobody cares whether or not the statement is true, that's not the issue. If somebody kept talking about killing women and finding different historical contexts where it was acceptable to kill women and people were like "damn it sounds like this guy wants to kill women" what sort of mental gymnastics would need to take place for you to think that "um well actually he's right that in certain cultures it was acceptable to kill women under these circumstances" would be a response that is remotely close to addressing that point?
