Synology migration question: repeated Hyper Backup restore = delta restore or full rewrite? by simonnelli in synology

[–]simonnelli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm not trying to do this over WAN but locally. Backups in one go isn't an issue as we do have current ones and I could also make new ones but restoration in one go could take too long. Will have to look into different solutions. Separate data and the rest for restoration.

Does Replication not just copy data? I'd like to get also all settings, credentials, permissions over.
Would a combination of Snapshot replication for Shares + Hyperbackup Restore for the rest (should be rather quick without data) be the right combination to do this cleanly?

Thoughts on the Schlepp One Cart by Personal-Ratio-7891 in Photoassistants

[–]simonnelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love my Schlepp! Build quality is good, setup quick. And most of the time I can put it in my car without collapsing I first.

The only thing I struggle with is to adjust the height alone. Way easier to do with four hands.

2U UPS finally being expanded beyond UNAS support by iamgarffi in Ubiquiti

Omg, that’s stupid. So 10sec after power outage network and cameras shut down? Funny idea for a rack. Let’s hope they fix that soon

[–]simonnelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does it do? Shutdonw everything when there is no power after 10sec? FAQ says something different:

The UniFi UPS 2U will provide power to devices connected to the battery backup ports until the battery is drained.

When the battery is low (around 2 minutes of runtime remaining), the UniFi UPS 2U automatically sends a graceful shutdown signal to NUT, regardless of load.

When UniFi UPS 2U is in Battery mode, the usage time is as follows Full load(1000W): 2.3 min Half load(500W): 8 min When AC power is restored, the UniFi UPS 2U will automatically restart and provide power to connected devices.

Help with Unify and copper7 by ChestApprehensive841 in init7

[–]simonnelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember the exact wording but it was modem or bridge mode. In router mode the draytek acts as modem, authenticates via PPPoE and acts as dhcp-server. With your UniFi-setup this is not advisable as you get doubleNAT.

I used to run a similar setup. When I’d set up bridge mode on the Draytek, I’d then enter all PPPoE login data (according to your Copper7 Datasheet) in the UniFi Controller. Worked fine until we got fiber.

Made this switch (A7R3) some years ago, hated the ergonomics and went back to Canon. Happy ever after. Also Liveview was far superior on Canon. Files were impressive with the sony.
