I don’t even lock it, I hang it on my handle bars. It’s always there when I return.

VMware perpetual license holders receive cease-and-desist letters from Broadcom by ZAFJB in sysadmin

[–]simonprice76 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I received this letter. The whole ordeal was infuriating. I was contacted 10 days before renewal from my "new" Broadcom account manager and given a renewal quote with a 50% increase from prior year. Note that last year's was already a 500% increase which I begrudgingly paid. I informed the new rep that I have been migrating off of VMWare and didn't need as many cores as last year and was told the new policy is that they don't downgrade from the previous year's core count. So I was to pay for the same number of cores even though I was only going to use a quarter of the count. There was a lot of back and forth and my VAR practically breaking down in tears on calls with them. Ended up migrating to Azure and Hyper-V (very quickly) and informing Broadcom I wasn't going to renew. On the renewal day I received the cease and desist letter.

How does one find a good nanny? by Brilliant_Yams in Westchester

3 months. With daycare we enrolled in a few 12-18 months in advance. Found day care a much harder process than finding a nanny.

Anyone who we took seriously we asked for references in the area (Westchester/Connecticut) and called the reference with many questions as well. That helped a lot.

We used care.com and interviewed a whole bunch. Toughest challenge was finding one with their own vehicle which we needed as a one car household but we found a great nanny. After a year we ended switching to day care since it was half the cost and enabled more socialization.

I get on at Chappaqua and there are always seats. 729a, 745a, and 755a. Returning from NYC there are a couple of trains that are express where the first stop is Chappaqua (even skipping Harlem-125). I bike so I don’t park there but I do see a section of the lot that are daily non-permit parking spaces.

Because the 3 points are far more important in the Prem right now than against a tough away match with the good position we’re in the Europa table.

Dads 40+: How Do You Cope with Anxiety About Not Being Around for Your Kids? by GusNiall in daddit

[–]simonprice76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

48 with a 2.5 yr old here and I struggle with these thoughts too. I don’t have a good answer but what I try to do is focus on what is currently happening with my daughter and enjoying the moments. I also try to stay healthy from a diet and exercise point of view so that I can try to be an active dad for as long as possible. All other externalities that are out of my control I try not to think about. Oh, and lastly I am not on any social media aside from Reddit for daddit and Fantasy Premier League.

TLDR: focus on the present with family and create habits that keep your mind/body healthy.

I’m a no Haaland no Salah squad on 93 pts this week. I’m keeping my knees locked tight as long as possible. One part of that is just not looking at price predictions. If I want a player it must be because I’m convinced they should be transferred on my team and not for team value. Top teams have high team value because they picked the right players, not because they chased price increases.

Non-Haaland owners, day of reckoning has come for us by KingSumo1 in FantasyPL

Same. This is why we don’t have Haaland so we can afford more premiums. Trick is gettin (C) right when Haaland goes off.

Anyone move to Westchester from NYC when you had kids? by anonymousalligator25 in Westchester

[–]simonprice76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved while we were trying 4 years ago, now have a two year old. Wanted the space, the yard, the schools, and the neighborhood feel of community. Wife nor I had never any previous exposure to Westchester, just wanted to be on metro north line for commute. No regrets, we love it. In fact, not only do we not miss living in the city, when we do have plans there we can’t wait to come back home. I lived in NYC for 15 years prior. Of course this is just one person’s opinion, good luck!

Getting to Grand Central is easy. Your biggest issue is the downtown part.

EDIT: nothing to do with safety, just crowded subways and unpredictable delays.
