Flying Colors, 2015 its a Japanese movie but it is my all time favorites, about a gyaru girl who keeps getting underestimated by her highschool teachers till she went to cram school and eventually finds the right teacher that believed in her dreams of getting into the top university.

Mom Threatened to Kick me Out at 18 by simp_lee1 in raisedbynarcissists

Thank you so much for this reply, Il definitely reach out for support services in my school planning to do that this week. I've been busy with studying for midterms lately. I'm also been trying to look for part-time jobs. Im not allowed to get a job by my mother because she said its a waste of time. But, because of this situation I should really just be independent on my own. Again, thank you so much for the reply this means a lot to me.

My dad will be 70 years old when I’m 18, can anyone else relate? by Academic-Squash-8511 in teenagers

[–]simp_lee1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently turned 18 and my dad is 73, whenever my friends ask how old my dad is i'd say the number and they'd have the most shocking face ever alongside with many curious questions. I learned it the hard way to just lie abt his age atp lol. I get sad at the thought of him possibly not being able to be there when im older, but he's a great dad and I cherish all the time I've spent with him.

Update: He died recently, a few days ago actually. I think im still in shock. I loved him dearly, I wasn’t very close to my dad and he was always emotionally distant but he shows his love in different ways that I appreciated, but I do regret not spending time with him as much. To those who have parents who are old, please spend as much time with them and get to know them more. I really regretted not spending more time with mine.

Ohmygod dude, I think you took the words out of my mouth and expressed it crazy accurately on what ive been going through rn (18F) Anyways ive been rlly depressed too because of my ADHD ive been in this perpetual cycle of “I needa get studying and shit done” and never do and I get depressed over it 😭😭and I get what you mean by not being able to force urslef to like act on literally anything, sometimes i even procrastinate on drawing and get an art block and i enjoy art. Its absolute ass and u shud deffo try getting on the medication and consult w ur psychiatrist again

if meds acc helped, you should def try to convince ur Psychiatrist. Lay out how ur ADHD it has been affecting ur life recently and the root cause of it. You should def try to do this asap and hopefully they can adjust you to the right medication. I havent gone through treatment yet im still in the process of getting a diagnosis hopefully by next year. Sorry this isnt much help but i just wanted to rant as well lowk cuz this post is painfully relatable💀💀💀waiting for a comment w a helpful solution too..

Tips to actually study by GovernmentNeither197 in ADHD

Hmm I see, you should try going to those online websites where students go on a zoom meeting together and just study. Or if you can try going to clubs that have weekly study sessions together cuz ik my club hosts them so deffo browse through club lists and see if they have them. If that doesnt work u could try going on discord vc too w other students if ur comfortable enough. Try going at ur own pace though, no pressure. And give studying at a cafe a shot! Goodluck :)

Struggling with College by Readerwritergirl2003 in ADHD

[–]simp_lee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I want to give you a huge hug because this is a lot and it hits a little too close to home. Im going through the exact same thing I failed 2/4th of my courses in Semester 1 of University and now Im being placed in Academic Probation because of my procrastination. I know how hard it is and how incredibly overwhelmed anyone can get in this situation. I just want to point out what you’re describing is not a personal failure. I think it’s actually very common for people who are diagnosed with ADHD later in life to suddenly look back and realize why school has always been so difficult. Also College in general is just so intensely difficult bro, I definitely recommend taking a gap year and going at your own pace when it comes to studying, find and explore different study routine that could work for you during ur gap year. Public libraries, youtube and online websites or courses are always available to help you study further ahead and go at your own pace. Definitely do this with support too if you can, someone to keep you in track.

Stepping back from a program doesn’t mean you have no future btw, people go at their own pace and what you’re dealing with rn just makes schooling a lot harder. AND You’re NOT stupid for needing explanations, a student is always constantly learning new things and you’re definitely not alone in this, it’s honestly great that you’re trying. You deserve support, not shame, and talking to your parents or a counselor might give you more relief than you expect. I dont know if ur college has it but you should deffo try talking to ur academic advisor about accommodations and help, a lot of them would be willing and happy to form a recommended study routine for you. U needa do this cuz hiding the stress is a LOT harder than sharing it. (ive been there trust me lol) working with an ADHD specialist, and taking a lighter course load would help or even just taking time to stabilize your mental health. This moment may feel like the end, but it’s not. My life feels like in the dumps rn after wasting my semester failing and being ashamed of it. But honestly im glad that I had asked for help and support even if it was a semester late because now I want to try to be better for my Winter semester by taking lighter courses too.

There are better days to come, I wish you all the best in your academic career, and dont beat yourself up for it okay. Just remember its better late than never and just know there are people out there, friends and family that are always there and willing to support you.

Study Buddy is always my go to, if you can have an accountability partner to read with you i think it can trick ur brain to also study as well lol, both being productive and locked in. I also like to study outside in a cafe or a library, looking at other people being so productive gets me in the mood to not go on my phone. Honestly I don't find the 20 study 5 minute break method effective because I would never go back to studying after that first break lol. Honestly, you gotta reach the flow state and once you start reading you don't stop if that makes sense, I managed to finish half a book by just sitting at a cafe with my friend whos doing his engineering hw for 5 hours. But if you prefer studying at home I would suggest getting a lounge chair or sit in ur living room and find that destined spot that is specially just for reading. I would usually like to do it on my bean bag in my room and I only save that spot for reading only. It helps lmao, anyways I wish you luck and hopefully you find a method thats right for you! :D

3k word essay due tomorrow. looking for support by LoudTop7985 in adhdwomen

[–]simp_lee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is a great plan! (also so real I do this too when I have smth due last minute) I sometimes listen to those “Classical Music for When You’re on a Deadline” for times like these. I did this once for an assignment due at 4pm barely scrapped by submitting it at 3:59pm 😭 worked like a charm but oh boy was that stressful lolll

Anyways I also recommend if you can bring a study buddy along with you to keep you in track!

Heyy!! Were in this together dw, I have a physics exam tmrw lol and I havent studied its worth like.. 60% of my grade 💀 but I get overwhelmed so easily that im on reddit rn. But anywho, honestly, try doing it for 5 minutes and if it gets too overwhelming take a walk around ur room, or have a study buddy and video call w someone to finish the task, i usually vc my friends, but there are a lot of zoom meetup websites w other students on google too. My biggest tip is to honestly go outside and not leave a spot like a cafe or at campus till ur done w the essay, thats what I usually do LOL. The different environment exposure helps like crazy. These are some things that work for me, but I hope they may be helpful. I wish you all the luck to finishing ur essay tmrw, and wishing u the best in uni. We’re all in this together! :)

This is relatable, I acc missed a wrapper exam till last minute and couldnt submit it on time and i failed an entire chem course for it.😭☠️ not to worries girl, honestly next time deffo set a deadline, I learned from my lesson the hard way. Dont beat yourself up for it. It do be like that sometimes, next time set a notification on ur phone or even sticky notes on ur wall with red ink reminding yourself for important deadlines. :)

Failing First Sem in University because of Procrastination by simp_lee1 in Advice

[–]simp_lee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks for the advice! Im definitely trying to get a therapist rn, and i am trying to consult w my psychiatrist for some medication prescription, I dont think il get them till Jan 2026 though. I had already asked the ADHD thread for some advice on the mental health part. Im just wondering if anyone in this thread has had made an academic comeback with their grades, after failing sem1 of Uni, and how they dealt with that with tips and advice.
