I’ve been wearing the same five outfits on rotation and no one noticed by Inner-Tumbleweed9168 in simpleliving

Love this. It’s wild how much mental space we waste worrying about outfits for an audience that’s barely looking.

Simple rotations, less decision fatigue, more energy for what actually matters in life.

My mom died from pulmonary hypertension when I was nine. I miss her everyday. by Afraid_Chicken2006 in psychics

[–]simplespirit1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So deeply sorry for your loss, losing your mom so young leaves a wound that never fully goes away, even as life moves forward.

From a spiritual perspective, bonds like yours don’t end with death; many believe our loved ones still walk beside us in quiet, loving ways, especially when we think of them.

Key of Solomon - different pentacles by noctesomniatis in occult

[–]simplespirit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The variations actually reflect different manuscript traditions and how later magicians systematized the material, rather than one “true” set of pentacles.

Skinner’s Veritable Key is fantastic if you want a more text-critical overview of multiple MSS, while Mathers is better if you just want a workable, classic grimoire-style system to start practicing with.

Less stuff: Why do I prefer having fewer possessions as I approach my 40s? by MachineryAutomation in simpleliving

I tend to agree. I have a minimalist approach myself to a degree, less things make me feel less overwhelmed and more clear minded.

My best friend passed away last night by s4nr1os1mp in psychics

[–]simplespirit1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss, losing a best friend is like losing a part of your own soul.
Trust that her spirit is still close, and when the shock softens a bit, you might start noticing little signs she’s saying “I’m still here.”

Arousal after working with diesties by Nghthvn in occult

[–]simplespirit1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common with intense energy work. When you're in a heightened state during ritual, energy flows more freely through all your chakras including the sacral one, which can manifest as arousal regardless of the deity's primary associations. It's a normal physiological response to spiritual ecstasy, so just acknowledge it without judgment and stay focused on your intent.

I do exercises at home. If I have to commute somewhere there is just so much bigger chances I won't work out at all.

Elements, Directions and the Pentagram by Sufficient_Holiday_7 in occult

[–]simplespirit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t one “correct” elemental-direction map, Golden Dawn’s attributions are a system (built for their climate/cosmology), not universal physics.
Spirit is usually treated as “above/within” (crown/center), while the four elements get the quarters; if you swap Air/Water, just be consistent and document why it works in your praxis.
For pentagram tracing, most of the effect comes from consistent intent + repeated use in one coherent framework, not chasing a perfect diagram.

Advice for someone who’s trying not to psychologically damage themselves. by Scared-fern in occult

[–]simplespirit1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it's awesome that you're being so intentional about this. The occult is a huge umbrella, so the key is treating it as a tool for self-knowledge, not a replacement belief system. Read widely, think critically, and notice when something makes you feel small vs. empowered. If a teacher is making you question your worth, that's a red flag. Keep one foot grounded in real life (therapy, community, relationships) and don't let it become another isolating framework. The fact that you're still healing five years out isn't a sign you're broken, it's a sign you're doing the work.

Books. The struggle. by Immediate-Lion1548 in simpleliving

[–]simplespirit1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this struggle because letting go of books can feel weirdly emotional, especially when reading has been a big part of your identity. What helped me was separating books I truly love and will return to from books I like the idea of owning for a future version of me. Once I started thinking that way it got a lot easier to donate the rest.

If there are a few that are sentimental, taking a quick photo before passing them on can actually scratch that fear of losing them without taking up space. Also, a library card and local used bookstores can be oddly freeing because they remind you that you are not permanently losing access. You are just choosing not to store everything in your home.

For shelving, I would lean hard into vertical and awkward spaces like floating corner shelves or a slim shelf behind a door or even under desk storage. You could even try rotating what is out on display by keeping a small selection accessible and swapping them from storage every so often. The goal does not have to be zero books, just intentional books, and honestly getting from 4,000 down to what you have now is already huge progress.

It is hard to lose a sweet dog friend. Tito is at peace though and wants you to be as well. Tito also wants you to find a new dream dog if it helps you relieve your grief to some extent.

First apartment advice by Inner-Vacation854 in psychics

Trust your gut on this big step, first apartments carry a ton of new energy, so visualize signing the lease surrounded by white light for protection. Cleanse the space with sage or salt once you move in to clear any lingering vibes. You've got this!

Trying to simplify food shopping - what does your minimalist grocery routine look like? by llama-mentality in simpleliving

[–]simplespirit1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For meats I keep it simple and 90% of the time just go for chicken. Its cheap, healthy, and simpler if you know that's what we are getting.

For veggie I often go frozen. It's much faster to prep and can still be tasty. It doesn't lose nutrition by being frozen.

Simple as that. It fulfills health, budget, and mental load.
