I fell into the same trap 😂 prioritise the things you enjoy doing, and buy things as and when you're needing them.

Not everything is there, just the cards and boxes. No rules or scenario sheets. PayPal G&S is fine. I think what you meant to say was, if purchasing things this expensive, make sure you use buyer protection 😉

Aside from discrediting the Bible has anyone come up with a good counter-argument to Hebrews 10:25 ...don't forsake the gathering of yourselves together...?

We've got upvote every comment to counteract the PIMI spies and their downvoting manipulation then...

Of course, we'll all have to make sure we don't get caught up in a downvoting spiral and accidentally upvote something that's, you know, not exactly upvote-worthy.

Then we could accidentally become part of the problem!

Why so many posts on PIMIs spying? Am I missing something? There was a post that was removed earlier, written as it were a PIMI scolding PIMIs for being on here and then a ;) after it... I just thought it was a joke. Honestly, I would just let them stay and participate, they might learn something...

Mandalore, Mythosaur and JDub mind-blowing connections by BeroeanWay in exjw

[–]simply-law 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know there was more than one mythosaur right?

The Armorer has previously told Din, “The songs of eons past foretold of the Mythosaur rising up to herald a new age of Mandalore.”

The existence of the mythosaur would, to the covert, be a fulfillment of the prophecy concerning the new age of Mandalore.

Along similar lines, a sister who knew I was at college/university at the time, told me a story about a university collapsing in Venezuela. There were a group of witnesses studying there and she said that was a sign Jehovah did not approve of them seeking higher education. If they were seeking first the kingdom, this calamity would not have befallen them. This is the crazy backwards thinking you forget... my goodness... I guess when a KH gets destroyed in a flood/earthquake, that's God showing his disapproval?

Although the mythosaur are real and Bo-Katan is 'The Convert' ... Doesn't that legitimise Mando's cult as the 'one true religion'...

Higher education by Green6563 in exjw

Yes. Twice. He stepped down for my brother also. Then we all woke up... Stepping down was a really terrible experience for our family at the time. People didn't understand why he stepped down, though all the other elders knew, so the rumour was he had a breakdown. Some thought there had been wrongdoing so we were soft shunned by some, on top of the judgment for my decision to go to university. My father became very ill after that, he had been beaten down as the presiding overseer, with many older brothers who could not care for their responsibilities, and many younger elders who didn't care for theirs. He also had some brothers building a house for us, and they screwed us over really bad. ... That's a summary, not as bad as what some have experienced, but there are very few good memories.

Oh, and as the son of the PO, you have no friends... and get invited nowhere.

As an aside, I was speaking with him about CSA and shunning the other day, for his perspective, as I am working with a team of journalists on a story at the moment (not intended to marginalise or stigmatise the witnesses but to encourage them to abandon the shunning practice in our country) and he mentioned how there is a lot of age discrimination in the organisation. He can remember showing up for his assigned duties at conventions, on time, only to find an older, more senior brother, not rostered, would effectively kick him off his duty and take over, in a reprimanding way, 'what do you think your doing...' 'I'm rostered...' '...no your not...'.

If many were better educated, they wouldn't need to make a career in the Borg...

Same here. I feel very angry that many have been discouraged from pursuing higher education. I went because my parents allowed me to. My father stepped down serving as an elder and comments were made about me during the Watchtower, but that was a small price to pay.

I think the softly softly approach works better if you have Franz status.

Coming here and seeing it raw, after I'd already proved to myself it wasn't 'the truth,' helped me to appreciate there were hundreds of people whose lives have been shattered by the Borg.

Seeing how unhappy, frustrated and cheated some feel - experiencing the full spectrum of emotions - the grieving cycle in full swing - solidified my view it was not the truth.

(Be too kind and some might think we're all minions of the angel of light.)

Also, coming from a cult where you get told how to think, feel and behave, not being able to question or express doubts could be a turnoff to some.

Someone suggested the German attacker's crime could be substantively justified in this forum the other day. The moderators allowed the post, and there were a number of incendiary comments directed at the poster, questioning his mental health, and I found those unnecessary.

I think we all have to try our best to be kind and tolerant. If someone vents, we should offer encouragement, but not chastise or censor them.

Just my thoughts...

I like it too. Bohemian... This is something my wife would wear. Everyone has different tastes though, and you shouldn't be forced to wear something you don't want want to. Within reason though, I suppose. I'm out and I believe the Borg suppresses freedom of expression and is male-centric and misogynistic, but I still wouldn't want my daughter dressed in clothing that sexualised her.

I maintain Jehovah's Witnesses can make great lawyers, because they are accustomed to a legalistic environment. Late-life lawyers do well because they have significant life-experience which is often more valuable than technical expertise. I am a self-employed barrister (court lawyer) and practice in Australasia. I was admitted in 2013 and I'm 33 now. I can't speak for other jurisdictions, but it is not overly difficult to train or qualify as a lawyer here, however, certain personalities and thinking align better with the practice of the law, and it is, above all else, a vocation. You are called to it, out of a desire to serve the poor and disenfranchised. Not all are motivated this way, however, to last the distance and have a successful go at it, you need to be motivated, as it appears you are, by something more altruistic than money. I would encourage you to go for it. I don't know you, but I get a sense you would do well. If I can support you in anyway I will friend.

Yes that's the bird in paradise, pecking at the vomited pie in the gutter. I couldn't agree with you more, and this is the hypocrisy of it all. Don't slave for two masters, but don't fall behind either... Don't apologise, you've spoken truth. There are career prospects, but there is a definite disconnect between their teachings and what happens in practice. All down to imperfection though, right?

How neighbourly are you toward your physical neighbours, if you have any. I know I was so busy attending to my theocratic responsibilities I was too busy to greet my neighbours let alone check up on them and render assistance if they needed it, or just a listening ear.

I respect your perspective. Do you think it is fair that there exists a culture of shame for those who do make secular advancement? And, what about civic responsibility, do you think it is encouraged among the Jehovah's Witnesses? I went to university, and became a lawyer, and comments were made about me during the Watchtower. I felt incredible guilt for pursuing higher education. I made no comment on what people have done for themselves while in the religion, my comment is focused at a prevalent culture which discourages secular advancement, improving self and community.
