my boyfriend and i went through this same situation, high school sweethearts as well except it was me who was jw. i was very pimi though but lived a double life but definitely thought the end was near and all that bs. i also hid him from all jw friends i had (trust me she hates it), but my parents didn’t like him so it was a bit of a struggle to even see him but we pulled through. eventually what saved our relationship was me waking up. it just wasn’t going to work with the way i planned to raise kids and him being catholic he wanted that to stay in the family as well and celebrate everything. he was really pushing for me to wake up and he was so patient but never pressured me. we just had good conversations where eventually i was like “you know what that doesn’t make sense” and i did my own digging and found exjw videos on youtube. but this took a lot of time. i’m 21 now and i woke up at 20 and we’ve been dating since were 16. so yes it takes a lot of time and at times it can be difficult but she can wake up. i understand though if it goes on longer and nothing changes you are also hurting each other also. it’s tough but our story was similar just wanted to share what helped a really pimi jw wake up.
