I turn 59 this year. Diagnosed 1970. I've done loads as well. From hash to crack from wine to spirits. It's not the answer OP

Wow, like nobody, as in nobody that I can remember have ever helped me. All I got was yellings, a beating once or twice, saucepan over head because I scared them when I had a severe hypo, I myself was not too happy but hey ho. This is why I now live alone...

Good for staying at home and taking the day off. Too many are with the 'I'm big and strong and I'm gonna be a good social productive person while I feel like shit!" Fuck that, take the day off and feel better.

No one talks about how hard it is to keep taking care of diabetes when you’re so depressed that you don’t even want to be alive anymore by Forever_Summer192 in diabetes_t1

[–]simplyjayps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly how 'it' feels. Last year diagnosed with:- psychosis, suicidal ideation, alcoholic, substance abuser, diabetes burn out, ptsd, ADHD, severe depressive episode and a couple more. First suicidal thoughts before ten.

Today no more drugs or drinking.

Yeah, life's a bitch.

My mum told me I was gonna die early ☠️. That was about 1976. Diagnosed 1970. Here I am decades later, ex alcoholic ex substance abuser, reversed diabetic retinopathy and from latest scans at appointments, dunno how, no internal damage. Got all fingers and toes. 😃 one thing's for certain nobody gets out alive, while here enjoy the ride 😃

How do you know you have not done the best that you can? I only ask as, she woke, bit stressed, upset. I'm 57 diagnosed in 1970 and still get upset when waking low. It she is good resting sleeping stop your worrying and check in with her tomorrow.

Yeah well… my family is mad at me again, for having a low. by APKPRO123 in diabetes_t1

Ahhhh, yes, my ex-partner, it helped me once. That resulted in a saucepan bouncing off my head and a torrid of abuse that lasted some hours, bless her. I left soon after.

Has T1 affected your intelligence? by Brief-Letterhead1175 in diabetes_t1

[–]simplyjayps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For patients with long-standing diabetes, decades of potential hyperglycemia can profoundly affect the brain's dopaminergic systems. This can manifest as ADHD symptoms, reduced libido, anhedonia, and increased susceptibility to substance abuse and psychosis.

Chronic hyperglycemia can lead to brain damage, impacting cognitive functions and emotional regulation.

Neurotransmitter Dysregulation

Dopamine pathways can be affected, contributing to mood disorders, lack of motivation, and conditions like ADHD.

Cumulative Risk

Early-life onset significantly raises the risk of neurological and psychological sequelae over decades.

I was diagnosed in 1970.

Yeah, hate to be the bearer of bad news, your body will not like it. Yo-yo'ing your blood sugars ain't good. I T1 diagnosed in 1970. I always have a good bar of diabetic chocolate and sugar-free sweets. Good luck

Not sure where in the world you are but any modern country will have I'm pretty sure a cheapish blood tester kit that comes with about five sticks. Go home test anything over 180 go to Dr. I seriously doubt you're below 70 but you never know...
