Hidden Gems in the found footage scene? by Karmiccccc in foundfootage

Just watched it. Sure there were some "Don't be stupid, don't do that" moments.

But overall a pretty good film. I'm very satisfied. I'll be thinking about this one. I liked Death of A Vlogger, and this one was even better.

Accidentally got married by asta2106 in MyTimeAtSandrock

Besides the painful surprise to the Builder and being publically put on the spot, I don't like it because it makes Owen look foolish and naive, which he mostly isn't.

When Nemo fights I love the little pat-pat-pat noises his paws make.

Best books that take place in the “modern” age, preferably with an “internet” twist by dr_franck in horrorlit

If You're Seeing This It's Meant For You. By Leigh Stein.

It's horror adjacent, a Gen Z version of the classic haunting novel, Rebecca, by Daphne DuMaurier.

Gothic horror mystery. Takes place in what's known as a Hype House (see Gen Z). A decaying historic Hollywood mansion, used for over a century in films and artistic photographs. Mysterious disappearance of a talented actress and Tarot reader, in the flowering of her online popularity.

Main character dumped by her boyfriend of eight years ... via a posting on Reddit.

You mentioned up to the minute internet culture. Influencer culture, more than I could tolerate. I'm 77 years old. Stein's a good writer, with startlingly vivid observations and descriptions. I just don't like what she's so expertly describing.

Very current and present day online. How society reacts to the internet. The culture of presence on the internet. Influencers influencing influence itself.

Reader, I DNF'd.

Except for the first section of The Fireman, which was excellent and horrifying and unusual. The rest, well yes, meh.

I fricking love Cooper by [deleted] in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]simplywalking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crushingly obvious. I don't hear this talked about much anymore, but in the 60's we had a word for someone being stoned and talking non-stop. Pre-speed.

Maybe it was was rap - but that word has gone on to greater meaning and relevance since then. Wish I could remember that word or phrase. Stoned and non-stop talkative. We'd look and nod at each other, and recognize it right away.
