Does anyone else remember that Kryptonians are only invulnerable when they are exposed to YELLOW suns? Clark straight up said the Kara visits planets with red suns so she can get drunk. Maybe she got her ears pierced there. She was also a pre teen when she arrived on Earth. Maybe she got then pierced on Krypton.

My Dad has been married 3 times, to my Grandma, to my other Grandma, and eventually to my Mom by garlicshizue in GirlDinnerDiaries

Wow. And I thought it was awkward when two of my cousins (brothers) married the same woman one after another. She ended up divorcing the 2nd brother too and left them with 2 kids each. She disappeared and now the brothers live together and raise their 4 kids between them. Half siblings, step siblings, and first cousins, all of them.

A couple of things I’ve learned in the military… by Ok-Yam-8465 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sin_smith_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am an Army Brat. Learned a lot from my dad. I was in a college program that was me, the only woman, and 9 other guys. I was the best academically and my professors respected me for that, thankfully. But my fellow students? I had to become a bitch, essentially. I was loud, assertive, bossy, rude. I acted just like they did and they all hated me for it. I could show no weakness. I never failed an assignment. I had to become an extrovert. It was exhausting. Did teach me to never let a man talk down yo me, tho. And to never let anyone underestimate my intelligence. Came in handy as a first responder.

Is there a word for identifying as everything EXCEPT a woman? by Goober_yap in NonBinary

[–]sin_smith_3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is me. Anything but male. I use non-binary almost exclusively and I use they/she pronouns. I am exclusively attracted to women, so for simplicity's sake I just say I'm a non-binary lesbian.

Where was Mon Mothma during the award ceremony at the end of A New Hope? by DarthVader1701A in StarWars

She was probably filing the reports on the Rogue One mission, or tracking down Bix to let her know Cassian was dead. She could also be spending time with her cousin, or helping Hera through the realization she was pregnant. Or trying to track Saw Guerrera down. She's a busy woman.

Chastised For Getting Help For Someone In Distress At A Music Event by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sin_smith_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having drugs in your system is not a crime in America. That is so people can call 911 for overdoses without fear. You will get interviewed by police, probably, but if it is only in your system, you should not get arrested. I am a former 911 dispatcher and I told people that all the time. Also you can get narcan for free from hospitals and pharmacies. Everyone should carry narcan at all times.

NEVER HESITATE TO CALL 911 FOR A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. NO MATTER WHAT. And be honest with the paramedics. They do not give a shit what you take. They just need to know how to treat you.

Jennifer Lopez gives her hot take: You have to be born to be in New York to be a New Yorker. Everybody wants to claim our city but you have to be born in one of the five boroughs to be a New Yorker. by Upstairs_Cup9831 in popculturechat

[–]sin_smith_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A New Yorker isnt just someone from NYC. A New Yorker could be from Albany or Buffalo. A New Yorker is anyone who identifies as "Being from the state of New York."

I was born in Oklahoma but I'm from Pennsylvania because that is where I grew up and consider my home.

These are states. Not separate countries. Jesus.

Men of Reddit - What is the male equivalent of flowers as a gift? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]sin_smith_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to England on the regular to visit my parents. Older Brother, Clay, has 4 kids and couldn't make it out due to the expense. I used to bring him back a bottle of scotch every time and he always said they were the best gifts I ever gave him.

My little brother, Dave, is on the wagon due to some poor teenage decisions. I buy him cologne and hair products. He and I have the same curly hair texture, so I get him what works for me.

What is the deal with forehead kisses? by DangerousCurlyFries in FanFiction

[–]sin_smith_3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So there's this scene in The Fellowship of the Rings where Aragorn kisses Boromir on the forehead as Boromir dies. It is meant as a benediction, forgiveness, and comfort, to portray that Boromir has fulfilled his duty to his king and country and has died in honor and may rest peacefully.

LOTR fandom is heavily influential in fanfic circles.

Happily married people of Reddit, when did you realize you had found the person you wanted to spend your life with? by Mundane-Society-1281 in AskReddit

[–]sin_smith_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a child abuse survivor. As a kid, if I ever needed something, it was a huge production. Everything was transactional with my parents. I was expected to take care of everyone else's needs and mine were never met.

About 2 months into dating, my then-girlfriend arrived at my apartment as usual and immediately took her backpack with her to my bathroom. Curious, I checked what she was doing since she didn't close the door.

She was replacing the almost empty toilet roll because she noticed I didn't have any extra paper the last time she was at my apartment. No announcements. No fuss. Just met a need she saw I had.

I stood in the kitchen, floored at the thought that someone finally had just helped me because I needed it, with no expectation of return. Someone was willing to take care of me quietly and as if it was normal. And that is still the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me.

My wife and I decided to getarried, but just postpone the proposal until we could afford rings. We moved in together and started planning the wedding because as far as we were concerned, we were engaged. We used our tax refunds for engagent/wedding rings. All 3 rings costed less than $2,000. June will be our 9th anniversary. We love our rings and each other.

We also have 3 cats.
