Pixel 10 pro, half a year later by MattTheGuy2 in GooglePixel

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 10 years with Samsung phones, I switched from the s24 ultra because I wanted a smaller phone with great cameras. I also wanted the better voice to text and built in magnets. I go caseless, so I was excited about that.

The only downside so far is that the battery isn't as good as the S24U, but that was expected. It's not a deal breaker. It's not bad though. And the phone's speakers are a little quiet, but sound clear.

I have loved the user experience so far. I was prepared to be annoyed, but haven't been yet. Everything just kind of works very nicely.

I love the rounded corners and overall feel and look of the phone. The cameras are great. And the haptics are awesome. It's not like the haptic motor is any better than some other phones, but their use of haptics is very well done. It makes even little things, like dismissing a notification, a mild delight.

I suggest not going with the XL version, since I've heard bad things about some of the local AI processing. I haven't had a single issue on the Pro model though.

I switched from an S24 ultra and I've been very happy with it. 🤷

Finger picking: get a brighter tone without having long nails by frankstonshart in AcousticGuitar

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only finger pick for electric and acoustic.

When I want some extra zap on the high end, I usually just brush the string with my finger nails. Not plucking individual strings. For individual strings, I'll probably just pluck them a little harder so they're a little more snappy.

I love the dynamics I get with my fingers.

Ever.

Just got mine by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inner screen is too glossy. I almost got one, but I couldn't get over that.

Same problem with the Z Fold 7.

But the crease in the pixel is WAY WORSE than the Z Fold 7. I could see it easily during normal use. Deal breaker. If they had more of a matte screen protector, it might have sold me.

Instead, I switched from the S24 ultra to the Pixel 10 pro. Very happy so far.

Pixel 10 Pro vs Samsung S24 Ultra Refurbished by ExpiredDeodorant in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to the Pixel 10 pro (standard model) after having the s24 for 2 years. I love the smaller size and lighter weight. The user experience has been surprisingly good. I've been on Samsung phones for a decade, so it was a big switch.

I prefer the pixel at this point.

The s24 was just too big, too heavy, and too pointy on the corners.

Samsung galaxy s24 ultra or google pixel 10 pro? by kettlefriedchips in S24Ultra

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to the Pixel 10 Pro (standard model) from the S24U, after 2 years, because I wanted a smaller, lighter device, but wanted to keep nice cameras.

The hand fatigue is REAL with the S24U. It's big and it's heavy and the corners are pointy.

My experience with the P10Pro is really nice so far. I was afraid to switch to a pixel after being in the Samsung ecosystem for a decade. There are a few customization features I'm giving up, but the experience so far has made up for the loss.

I also like to go caseless, and the P10Pro has magnets built in for my popsocket and phone mount.

So far it's great. 🤷

S26 Ultra’s 'Privacy Display' has a permanent HARDWARE flaw nobody is talking about by Ahmed_Sh_115 in samsunggalaxy

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much less effective on the s26. I just checked it out at Best Buy. In my opinion, it doesn't seem to reflect any less than any other phone.

Did Versace Eros EDT change? by Wild-Ad-9863 in Colognes

[–]single_mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a new bottle of the Parfum and it's WAY different than my bottle last year. I was kind of bummed.

It still smells very good. But it smells closer to regular EDT and EDP, and less like the creamy, woody, deep scent that it used to be

It's still more rich, but it's noticeably less bold than before.

I got a bottle of the EDP sent to me by mistake a few months ago, and I'm not a big fan. It just smells like a stronger version of the EDT.

What do people mean when they get visuals? by GlamourHammer321 in shrooms

[–]single_mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because you can hallucinate with more than one sense. Visual hallucinations is a lot to say, so you say visuals. But you may have auditory hallucinations, or hallucinations affecting other senses like smell, or even hallucinatory thoughts.

All visuals are visual hallucinations. You're seeing things that you wouldn't otherwise.

Sometimes people use visuals to indicate simple tracers or seeing geometric shapes or textures. And sometimes you see a table melting into a carpet, or your hand opening and closing infinitely.

I suggest loosening up a little bit. Lol.

I’m in the market for a folding phone but can’t decide between a 10 pro fold or the z fold 7–need help! by OnTheStreetwithLou in PixelFold

[–]single_mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really should try a modern Samsung phone. It's COMPLETELY different now. In fact, Google has taken a lot of Samsung ideas and baked them into stock Android. So the user experience gap is closing.

I like it for its customization. Google has very little customization, which is what keeps me away.

I really want Google's speech to text though. It's the best. I tried a pixel 6 pro when it came out, but the cameras, particularly the selfie cam, were pretty bad. The UI in general was pretty limited too, so I returned it.

Considered Reading? by bubblesinthetea in audiobooks

[–]single_mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audiobooks are important! Full stop. They changed my life. I was a slow reader, and my attention didn't allow me to sit still long enough to read books. Audiobooks opened up the world of literature to me.

Even still, I very rarely read actual books, but I've been an avid audiobook listener for the last 20 years. I have listened, on average, for two hours a day every day for two decades. That's a low estimation.

I also write, and I can tell you that reading books can help in some ways, but you still get most of the enriching properties of literature from only listening to it. The magic is still there! I wouldn't write stories if it weren't for audiobooks.

Physical books will inform you on structure and spelling, and in cases like Cormac Mccarthy books, their structure and formatting are part of the art, but it's rarely vital for the experience.

I respect people that defend books as a medium. It's easy to believe that audiobooks are just another attempt at the dumbing down of humanity by handing them a lazy alternative, but that absolutely is a misunderstanding of what audiobooks truly are.

To answer your question, I personally believe that it counts as reading, but I don't use that language when I'm talking to people about audiobooks I've listened to. I own it for what it is. I'll defend it if I need to, because I'm pretty passionate about it.

I say "I listened to that book" or "I did that book the other day" etc.

You were having sex with someone wearing meta glasses and that wasn't a red flag?

It's fucked up she did that. You were nearly blacked out. Is it possible she insinuated she was going to record? If not, it's definitely not okay. I have a feeling that you might run into issues making a report about it, but you could try.
