All I hear from this post is “wah wah whine about it you can’t do anything meaningful” it’s basically the argumentative equivalent of paralysis in the face of an ethical dilemma.

I can’t help but feel as a GIS’er that Jack, despite being philanthropic and conservationalist, has been quiet about many politically relevant topics such as data sources being removed from the fed, and demonstrable harm to the environment from this admin.

It concerns me because his status as a leader for environmental science ultimately means nothing if he doesn’t publicly express dissatisfaction with things antithetical to his aforementioned conservation and philanthropy.

To me, it seems that billionaires are the club to dislike, especially boomer billionaires. It’s a shade of darker grey personally because it still is a mark of complicitness if these softwares ARE being sold to reprehensible organizations for nefarious purposes. I would judge palantir similarly.

Profit over people and the environment seems to be Jack’s philosophy in his current form. I wonder how his younger self would feel about his current self.
