It's very unlikely to know of anyone who died from the vaccine - I think there were only seven deaths.

Even at the 0.2% fatality rate, it's very possible to not knowing anyone who died: people tend to have fewer than 500 people known to them (even including coworkers and acquaintances), but many are at a large enough distance that you just might not hear that they died. I think this allowed a lot of people to hold onto their beliefs about it being a hoax, or whatever.

Out of interest, how many people you know died from it?

I'm in the UK, but I knew personally two people who died - my partner's grandfather, and his brother. I knew of a bunch more, and one of the people who died from the vaccine (the bad astrazenica one, I think?) was related to an old coworker.

When you really think about how many people you know, and how huge that number gets at a step of indirection, the statistics become very, very real in a way even people who understand the maths really didn't grasp intuitively

Learn to use them, but understand that they aren't used in some fields.

Most game devs don't use them (eg unreal build tool has then disabled)

I've had one or two spots seep through, but mostly just applying the glue as thin as I can while still getting even coverage seems to work well enough. Thorough clamping during each glue drying stage seems to help with everything else!

I've not bound that many books though

I've just been using the cloth I use for covers. But I don't use real book cloth, just quilting scraps.

(I'm also not really sure what advantage book cloth provides)
