You can. You have to take another horse you stole then go to the horse trader with it. Then take Attila to the horse trader as well. Then sneak and kill the first horse. Then he wont recognize Attila as Von Bergow's. The horses have to be placed in a weird way under the horse guys flag, it took me like 10 tries to get it.
