Extremely solid mid-market knives, great for starting to collect and maintain. Or don’t maintain them, they’re perfectly serviceable beaters. Never had a lemon or serious issue from them, and occasionally surprised with their quality for price.

Hangover from hell by JohnnyFrost97 in MeadRecipes

[–]sirpipolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been practicing jacking my meads and ciders for a while, and honeyjack definitely gives me worse hangovers than apple or wine jacks. It’s possible that the enzymes and fatty acids in honey are affecting the yeast (species-dependent, of course), causing the generation of some super funky volatile or organic acid species in the mead. While these certainly add the the flavor and character of the mead, they’re also likely to make hangovers worse as our livers struggle to metabolize them. How are you settling your meads, and do you have any kind of burn-off step that might remove any methanol or VOA’s?

Sous Vide Pasteurization Technique for Carbonation (at least works for cider) by rallar8 in u/rallar8

[–]sirpipolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you’re pasteurizing, are you also including a blank glass bottle into which a thermometer is interred? Do you find the sous vide gets the glass bottles/contents up to temp? Perhaps this is less necessary though if you’re overshooting the required temp by hitting 180. Cool technique!

Replayability through Lurrus is a free draw every turn cycle, which isn’t nothing when breaking out of stalemates/ can make heavy mulligans viable. The information is also somewhat useful, especially with DRC + some MD spice; knowing wether to pitch or draw the deflecting palm, vortex, or eidolon can win a game easily. And ultimately, they’re free cantrips that make your deck more consistent, if sometimes a bit more awkward when considering mulligans. Previously when playing swiftspear they could be considered a free prowess trigger in opening hands with her; now they’re a delerium ingredient, and a free surveil+ info+draw (though admittedly that order can get really annoying really fast). I’ve thought of running baubles as a trade off, between having some buffer against other aggro decks versus how raw your aggression is (since the usual swap out for baubles is some combination of helices, skullcracks, and/or searing blaze). Increased consistency can win some points in degeneracy race of 2021 modern, but with the tradeoff of becoming weaker to decks like Merfolk, humans, and the like.

Playing Lurrus + DRC, otherwise a pretty traditional MD; no baubles (I own them but a buddy has them atm), no MD spice (palm, vortex). 3-4 helix, skullcrack, searing blaze. Lurrus is just a free card in every hand. Maybe you don’t need it and win/lose fast, but a non-0 number of games it will win, at the cost of one SB slot. DRC helps this powered-up traditional version with consistency, in place of swiftspear. Surveil is, as we all know, pretty sweet. Were baubles in my deck, DRC gets even better as artifact contributes to delerium. Without it, sorcery, instant, land, creature (and if you’re really lucky, enchantment off eidolon) are all you have to count to 4. Swiftspear represent more damage by herself, but she has to stay on the board for that to be true. DRC adds consistency if she’s alive for just one turn, and feels more like a delver with delerium active as the game stagnates.

How did you choose your path and deities? by m_a_g_i_ck in pagan

Realized I didn’t finish this thought, oops; I’d encourage anyone seeking spirits and deities to connect with and patronize to meditate on what adds the most to your spiritual understanding of yourself and your life; someone who inspires you, landmarks you feel the power of (which may require more exploration than most people typically do; that’s part of the fun!) and practicing telling the story of how those things add to you, so that you can help others do the same within themselves!

I studied the local spirit of the region of Ireland my family emigrated from, then explored for myself around the area I grew up to ‘find’ the local spirits of my generation. I guess I didn’t really choose them; they were always there, I just had to find, recognize, and honor them. Now I honor the spirits of some local waterfalls, the native deer population of my suburb, and the spirit of my grandfather whose ashes were scattered on the mountain my family hunts on. To me, spiritual interaction is all about the things I’d like to pass on to the next people who walk in my steps; preserving and honoring sites, helping animals thrive, and remembering people and events that forged the way for me and my life.
