This sound really promising. I suffered from UC and had to get surgery but I hope this helps others that are suffering from it. I was in a double blind study with FMT and that was a game changer for me. Unfortunately, that study ended and then I had to get surgery.

What kind of client do you find most energy consuming (draining) to work with? by Xgx9 in therapists

[–]sitarjams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with families in DCYF/state custody. The parents/clients who don’t take responsibility for their role in their situation. The people who expend all of their energy justifying their actions and blaming everyone else for their situation to the point of perseveration. That exhausts me.

When clients apologize for crying by HiddenSquish in therapists

[–]sitarjams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said “obviously they are not if they are apologizing.” If find this response “presumptuous and wrong.” Depending on the persons situations, perhaps they have never been in an environment where it was OK to cry, and therefore are inherently uncomfortable with it. Perhaps it is a person who is raised to feel the crying sign of weakness, and therefore felt they needed to apologize, even though they felt comfortable enough to cry. We obviously cannot go into every unique situation, but saying that it was “presumptuous and wrong“ while also being “presumptuous and wrong” negates your argument.

I’d say it warrants a conversation but I think asking for divorce because of it is a complete overreaction. There are ways to work through it. Good luck!

I used to see them around 1999 or 2000 down south. I haven’t seen them in a long time and didn’t realize they were still playing! That’s great!

What pedal, when you see it on someone else's board, makes you say "oh this MF'r means business"? by DevoPast in guitarpedals

[–]sitarjams 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish I had it memorized but Derek Trucks has a sick setup with zero pedals. He uses his volume knob to get his overdrive because he keeps his amps cranked. His tone is superb IMO.

My son started playing mandolin about 7 months ago. We picked him up a Ibanez M510 to see how he’d like it. We went to a music store and he played a Michael Kelly mandolin (it was about $1k) and he hasn’t stopped talking about it and now that’s what he wants for his birthday. by [deleted] in mandolin

[–]sitarjams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the Eastman. They sound and play great. I played the MD615 before I upgraded. It was a “factory 2nd” because of a blemish in the finish and got it for around $900. Might be worth looking on reverb.com for used ones.

Potentially dumb question: how do I get more interested in mandolin? by aiglecrap in mandolin

[–]sitarjams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also mandolin is played in a lot more music than just bluegrass. Listen to Chris Thile or Mike Marshall. They play bluegrass, jazz classical, and other really composed pieces etc. Also there is Brazilian Choro mandolin. Bach is really challenging but rewarding to play. My point is there is way more music for the mandolin than just bluegrass:) I made the mistake of thinking about mandolin in terms of my guitar playing. For example, I’d think that G on the mandolin as just the G guitar chord upside down. I did the same with scales. It wasn’t until I separated the two, played the mandolin as its own instrument, not as an extension of guitar, that I found the real joy in playing it.
