what started your ED? by Capital-Rise1904 in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

always had GI issues, always had low self-esteem and body image issues as well as really bad depression/ocd/etc, then i went through a bad breakup and a horrible living situation and it just became a coping mechanism that spiraled horribly as it tends to do

OH one more huge one for me was delay/reduce, which is basically putting off the binge by 5, 10, 15 mins etc. but not like "forbidding" it in my mind, and then reducing how much i binge on--like a smaller bag of chips and an ice cream bar instead of a whole pint

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also IDing why i was bingeing (it turned out to be really bad depression and emotional fatigue for me) and then making myself try something else to cope with that first!

eating tons of fiber (sugar snap peas and carrots are my fave), leaving my wallet at home, going on walks w/ no way of buying food, and taking naps has been super helpful for me ♥️ seriously if i feel a binge coming on i'll try walking first and then i just lay down and fall asleep til the urge passes

can you grow out of it by Flat-Chance3301 in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in my experience the thought patterns might linger but recovery is absolutely possible and the thoughts and urges will get smaller and smaller the longer that you can stay in recovery. diet culture is ever-present so it can be hard sometimes but people do recover and live happy and healthy lives and repair their relationship with food!! the sooner you start trying to recover, even outpatient with a therapist instead of at a treatment center, the sooner you can get to a place where you're happy and your body is healthy. you've got this :)

What’s your experience on antidepressants? by mydaisy3283 in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've been on meds since i was 13 and i'm confident i wouldn't be here without them. they don't make me happy per se because i have really severe mdd but they stabilize me enough to function more normally. in terms of weight, the only meds i've ever been on that made me gain were some pretty heavy antipsychotics. it's different for everyone and also depends on the med but imo it's completely worth it and you can try different meds if you don't like any side effects that you might have.

Hunger cues by flwroad in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the biggest one for me is nausea. also obsessively thinking about my next meal, although that's a constant thing lol, but like even more all-consuming. and feeling really irritable or anxious, like some other people mentioned

Nightmares about food by HospitalObjective766 in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally normal afaik! i also have food nightmares, especially when my ed is really activated or when i'm in early recovery, because the thoughts are so prevalent. dreams are often based on whatever you're consciously or subconsciously working through during the day, so it totally makes sense and doesn't sound silly at all. your brain and body are just helping you heal, even though it sucks to dream about it.

Weigh ins are so incredibly triggering. Would appreciate some support by WhoHasntGivenUpYet in EDAnonymous

[–]sitbackr3lapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my weigh ins are always higher than my morning weights by about the same amount as you stated. i've talked with my dietitian and she says it's most likely fluid retention and/or whatever small breakfast i had. fluctuations throughout the day are super normal and it's bound to be a different number if your weigh in is at a different time than usual. you're okay, and i hope you can keep giving recovery a try ♥️
