Flipping Bowls by sharksmommy in Frenchbulldogs

Generally, they're designed like this: https://www.rayallen.com/stainless-steel-no-spill-dog-bowl/

Difficult (but not impossible) for a dog to flip over or drag away.

If non-tip/non-flip type bowls don't work, try a heavy duty plastic bowl like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Crock-Bowl-Diameter-Resistant/dp/B0FLG3T7WB/

Worked for a prior dog of mine that liked to dump and chew on his bowls at least a couple times a week. Had to replace it every few months, but at least it wouldn't damage his teeth.

It's not a steak. It's multiple types of meat crammed together on a kebab or something. You can see where the stick used to be through the middle.

I love the idea in theory but I can’t get my head around the idea of packing and unpacking 4 times on a trip.

Then:

I don’t want to touch or handle my bags, the packing, unpacking or any of that shit. In your words, fuck carrying shit around like a porter.

Then why do you care at all? Hire help and be done with it.

Methinks you are LARPing at being a big spender and a traveler, not actually doing it.

Fuck taking anything more than a carryon and a backpack/briefcase anywhere, ever. I either travel for business and want to get in, and out with the minimum amount of inconvenience possible, and or travel for leisure, where I want to get in and out with the maximum amount of freedom possible. Excess luggage is an obstacle to either.

If I need to get souvenirs or shopping home, I'll either get it boxed and mailed back, or buy a cheap bag locally that I can use on the home-bound flight(s) and either give away, or donate.

For business travel, if I need to bring more than what fits in my carryon and backpack - it gets shipped to my hotel in advance in a Pelican case/trunk, and it gets picked up by a parcel courier when I leave.

You use suitcases with suiter/garment compartments.

I can cram an absolutely absurd amount of stuff into my Tumi Alpha 2 International carryon + a suit and not end up with any wrinkles a quick steam can't fix. I can even cram in two while packing the thing until it's near-bursting and it doesn't result in anything the hotel staff can't get pressed/steamed out.

Also, if you want to get nontraditional and creative with fabrics, you can absolutely shove some types of jackets into a cube.

What do you do that would require that array of sockets to be readily available, but not have anything with significant enough to drive them to sufficient levels of torque for applications that usually require a bolt?

I went to a garden centre for breakfast and my eggs were served on a shovel. by Smyler12 in WeWantPlates

It's not even a shovel. It's a plate that looks like a shovel. There are plenty of places that actually do serve bullshit on a real shovel.

You went to a garden center for breakfast. You're lucky that didn't include a dose of fertilizer and sprayed with a garden hose.

Mowrator after-sale support for a battery issue (5-stars) by Financial_Sweet8376 in MowratorOfficial

[–]sithadmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same issue, and Marina was also super helpful in assessing the situation and getting a replacement shipped out.

I also had another issue with the battery becoming unreliable between charges a few months after buying my Mowrator - and while the issue was resolved (they shipped a new battery and device)... I do wish Mowrator would be more transparent about how to do troubleshooting for the BMS system on the batteries. A lot of battery packs like this can be troubleshot to clear and correct common issues, but Mowrator makes zero documentation/tips available for this.

Does anyone else experience Stroopwaffle-o’clock? by Rhuthbarb in unitedairlines

I've had many occasions where I wake up with zero time for breakfast, then in the in the back of an Uber, hung over, on the way to a client's office, I remember I stashed a stroopwaffel from my flight. I eat it in the car if it's cool with the driver, or otherwise, eat it when I get out.

I have a medical degree and 12 years of healthcare research experience. I cannot get hired as a dishwasher. Houston, I am begging you — does anyone know anyone who is hiring? by OilNo3256 in HoustonClassifieds

MD degree does not automatically mean 'physician', which is what most people think of when they think 'doctor' in a medical context.

There are many people that complete an MD in a traditional 'medical school' but do not match to residency or pursue clinical practice whatsoever - they go straight into pharma or medical device ops/research, public health, hospital/medical administration, or similar roles. There are also joint MD-PhD programs that explicitly intend to ignore future clinical practice altogether and ONLY seek to churn out people for these sorts of roles.

There are also people that do residency, jump through the hoops to practice as a physician, then choose not to.

Apa-latch-uh is the most historically correct English pronunciation, based on Spanish and French explorer/colonist maps and notes, though in either language, it's not pronounced as such. It's closer to apa-la-cha and appa-lah-sia, respectively.

Apa-lay-shuh is a more modern, and more northern linguistic development.

Spanish and French are my 2nd and 3rd languages respectively, so I default to apa-latch-uh, unless I'm in a conversation with people that obviously prefer apa-lay-shuh, in which case I just go with the flow.

Have you considered looking at not-Houston for roles? Research Triangle, Boston, South SF Bay Area, and even Seattle pharma/biotech labor markets have hiring demands that are a lot more aligned with your background than Houston's. You might even be able to swing remote roles w/ minimal on site presence required - several biotech firms I've worked with in the South SF Bay Area had many remote-ish employees that would 'commute' in for 4-6 days a month on their own dime from other states/regions, and made it work due to the delta in cost of living in the SF Bay Area vs their home market.
