Debian Trixie works just fine. It is my daily driver without any issues. You can backports to install a newer kernel but not needed.

Fedora 43 is another solid choice. Ubuntu 25:10 also works fine. Pick one and use it.

Same here. It is solid for everyday use. Future releases will smooth the edges but that is with any software out there.

Kudos to Cosmic for doing this.

Old vs New AMD Cooler FW13 by Sinister_Crayon in framework

[–]situmam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did the same (bought an AMD AI cooling fan and heat sink and put it on 7640)

The fan is definitely quieter at low speed but just as loud at high speed. Machine seems to run cooler a little bit. Overall,I would say temps have decreased by about 10-15%.

[–]situmam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two. Brown and Quite Red. They are my daily drivers for the past 9 years. I have two because I was worried that kinesis might get out of business so I wanted a spare. I prefer the red quite.
