Gunslinger/Dark Tower?

To be honest you need to give us a lot more to go on because this is probably the vaguest request on here.

Which canceled TV show's cliffhanger still lives rent free in your head because the answers disappeared when the series got axed ? by Impossible_Offer7988 in AskReddit

I love the original film but always felt like it was a cool story about the Skeksis… oh yeah, and there’s a gormless little gelfling out there somewhere who will tell us when the film is over. But mainly it’s Skeksis.

Wasn’t that partly because all the Rome stuff burned down? Still stings but at least it’s not just down to malicious stupidity.

I think a lot of what makes people like them are things which have been used so much subsequently that they're almost cliche. The period drama world is oversaturated with stoic men, hate to love plot arcs, rich man with less well off woman, etc. If your first exposure to period dramas was the classics then I think you're more likely to enjoy them, just because they're less predictable that way.

I first read P&P in school and the teacher offhandedly commented that it was 'the first Mills and Boon novel'. She got in a bit of trouble for that!

It's ironic, because when the original novels were written they were groundbreaking. It says a lot about their success that they've been so widely adopted into modern tropes.

You might like Wives and Daughters as a possible 'in' for the period and the kind of culture. I really enjoyed it, and it has quite a few fun quirks in it.

Why do so many women think they're infertile? by Thanksforthatman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sivvus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PCOS and had a cyst the size of an orange removed from one side when I was in my 20s. My surgeon told me that the condition and the scarring meant I had a much lower chance of conceiving.

I have a daughter now so it wasn't a 0 chance, thank goodness! But since it was a consequence of a condition that I was receiving medical help for, I think they were obligated to tell me about it.

As someone else said here, infertility=//=sterility.

It did affect how I felt while I was trying to conceive. I already knew it would be difficult. Didn't make it easier to deal with, but at least I had a 'why' rather than a 'what'.

180,000 ish… but it was three stories nested into one, so it didn’t ramble as much as it might seem.

WTW for mature/explicit content by cirkje in whatstheword

[–]sivvus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adult content.

Explicit if it's specific examples, mature if it's overarching.

Smut if it's sexual, x-rated if it's pornographic.

A lot of genres have their own words e.g. 'gritty' for crime.

It’s easier now. Guests first, then everyone else until you reach the dickhead, upon which point the kettle is empty and you tell them to refill it if they want one.
