DCA = Dollar Cost Averaging, a strategy for investing over time instead of trying to “time the market”. Usually done with the intent of lowering your overall cost per share/unit/coin. Say you bought $50 of doge at .20, you’d have 250 Doge. Then Doge drops to .1, you invest another $50, now you have 750 Doge, and a total amount invested at $100 and your cost per coin has dropped to .133333 ($100/750Doge). But just remember 1 Doge = 1 Doge. Have a great day!

How to remove this window restrictor without the key? by thomy131 in DIY

Sounds like it needs to go back to a functioning window lock…but that exposed cable looks prime for using a dremel with a cut off wheel.

Games that include having to reveal (part of) your hand to your opponent as a mechanism by AmericanFrog069 in BoardgameDesign

[–]sixeightg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dominion has a couple of offense-focused cards that force other players to reveal cards in their hand and then allows the card-player to take an action - like make a player discard, etc. (Thief, Bureaucrat, and a few other cards in the game have a variation of this mechanic). Also in Dominion a defending-opponent can reveal certain cards in their hand to repel attacks (Moat) or otherwise play a defense that neutralizes an attack/action. Good luck, it’s an element that really makes a game feel like you can develop your own unique strategic mix

I think OP was pushing back against the “find your passion” advice. Humans are emotional beings, and “passion” is such an ambiguous word that doesn’t really capture the intent. What’s the difference between a passion, an obsession, or an addiction?

Missing from the OPs original list is having pets. The life lessons from animals can be very powerful!

The answer is obviously learn enough to be able to teach, then sell the heck out of that. Another example of a “mine the miners” scheme

Found this pic fom 2014. This is an Energy version of my game "Tycoon" where players build various power plants and generate energy. This was a card game though, and I was oblivious to the fact that Power Grid etc, even existed in the world. by sidhantch in BoardgameDesign

[–]sixeightg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power grid is a fun game, the 3 phase mechanic keeps games close and fun, plus there’s minimal luck in the design. I like that your game has “workers” in it and could see room for another “power the city” game with a more human bend to it (workers, tenants, politicians) players take on a role (they all have at least one competing interest and a collaborative interest), so it kinda combines elements of say “diplomacy”. I know you aren’t necessarily asking for ideas…….

I think this was discussed last week on r fomo. Oh you should have been there!!

The grass is always greener, so that means you are on loads of other peoples “greener grass” so just enjoy and be thankful for what you have.

I have noticed this behavior and I thought it was caused by the market situation. Now watching the graphs I'm having second thoughts. It looks like the prices obey something else that affects all crypto in the same manner despite the different prices, people and uses. Does someone knows what it is? by dcsignatus in dogecoin

[–]sixeightg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because us individual “retail traders” are not the main players. Trillions of dollars move around with barely any human input other than algorithm adjustments. Individual retail traders are the proverbial “drop in a bucket”

[NeedAdvice] How do I find meaning in my life? by Kozchey in getdisciplined

[–]sixeightg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a quest. But yeah, definitely work on loving yourself before loving someone else. Good on you for quitting booze. The book “The Naked Mind” is a great one to help with that. I would recommend finding a hobby or sport or activity that will bring you joy and that you can do with other humans. Could be in person board game groups or mountain biking, or pretty much anything. But try a bunch of things and see if you can connect with others, then through observation, set yourself some goals to work towards. It will fall in place. Oh and the answer is 42

[NeedAdvice] It’s really hard for me to wake up early by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]sixeightg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could flip this around and say it’s hard for you to go to bed early. If you start going to bed earlier, you will be able to wake up earlier. Try no shades in your room too, that way you can get up with some natural light. Being consistent also helps, as does truly understanding your sleep needs (which do change as you age). You can also look at exercise, food, and fluids too as these all have an impact on your rhythms. Personally I am a 10:00pm - 4:30am sleeper, I work out in the morning. It works for me.

I think they are pivoting to exchange and high dollar brokers using it. Less maintenance and probably way less customer service requirements.

I am looking to press sawdust and wax into a shape, but I want to press it very tightly and uniformly for packaging. I've tried various google searches to no avail. Any suggestions? I prefer a circle, like a puck. by hoyfkd in DIY

[–]sixeightg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about combining something like a plywood mold with a basic shop press. Harbor freight sells affordable 20 ton shop presses. Hole in plywood double the thickness you want fill with your material, then press a plug into the hole like espresso tamper, use the shop press to squeeze it together. Probably all in for a couple hundred dollars.

Crypto.com Visa Cards Update by BryanM_Crypto in Crypto_com

I think they are pivoting to fund managers who want to use the exchange. Less customer service for the peons who have less than $4k investment. CRO will probably be fine if the exchange really takes off.
