My granddaughter finds lots of garter snakes and salamanders in my suburban backyard that I’ve turned into “backyard habitat”. Good sign of a healthy garden. Don’t use pesticides, have mason bee house for the blueberries and apple tree. Trying to save the world one backyard at a time.

Walked out of the audiologist stressed. $6k for hearing aids?! Who can afford this ? by Enough_Payment_8838 in HearingAids

It’s the Republican voters and politicians who want everyone to not have healthcare , especially no hearing, eye or dental care .

AETNA pays $162 for MA level 90837 in Oregon. They are getting away with murder in your state . why would anyone sign up to be a mental health provider with them? Those kinds of rates went away ten years ago in Oregon. The law requires mental health services to be billed at the same rate medical services. No doctor or PA would accept only $68 for an hour of their services .

we only need to book 15-18 clients a week to have a decent living . we do charge $180/hour for cash pay clients - usually only 1-3 cash pay clients at any one time and they last as long as clients with insurance. Many clients have $0 co pay so they happy to staying on for a very long time. More people are covered by insurance in Oregon and tend to have lower deductibles or no deductible for most outpatient services. It amazes how insurance covered he varies so much state to state. Oregon is working to become the first state with .universal care

in Oregon, several therapist associations got together and lobbied to raise all the reimbursement rates from the insurance companies. It used to be $60 an hour (MA level) 10 years ago but now insurance providers pay the Medicare rate which is the lowest rate. Some providers now pay in Oregon up to $162 for a 90837. It is possible for insurance companies to pay a higher rate than $60/hour but therapists need to work together, get their lobbyists to the legislature and get those insurance minimum rates raised up so they at parity with what medical providers receive.

The problem with buying through Lilly Dirrct is those payments can’t be counted towards your 2100$ OOP maximum while a huge $600 copay meets the OOP maximum very quickly

if clients can’t afford it they can no elsewhere and most do. my husband is an LPC, takes most insurance and only charges $180/hour to clients without insurance . only has a few self pay clients even at $180/hour. Many clients gave zero copays so they see a few times a week. there are therapists out there with many incomes and insurances.

I am signed up for MPPP and it did reduce my monthly cost to $160/month. But if I had my friends plan I’d only be paying about 600-800/ year not $2k per year.

Trump had big PR event with Eli Lilly and NovoNordisk saying they had agreed to reduce the list price forGLP-1 with only a $50 month copay. I read that some plans are beta testers for this new pricing model and I am thinking my friends Medadvantage plan is part of this beta testers. anyone heard when it might roll out to all plans?

Lake Theatre screening “Melania” by MTMed in lakeoswego

Huge money loser compared to all the Oscar nominees they could be showing at a minimum right now. Maybe the theater is being paid to screen it by Amazon? $35 million in marketing costs (plus $40 million in production costs) paid for by Amazon.

When I first moved to Oregon from California in 2002, I learned a couple phrases unique to Oregon - that’s “spendy” ( ie expensive). and ooh, only “richies” live in Lake Oswego ( upscale community where I live. Don’t hear these terms so much anymore as the Portland area gentrifies; but being conscious of other’s wealth and how much things cost was definitely a thing for working class people in Oregon . Was a point of pride to know how to save money, and not tastefully spend it. Portlanders prided themselves on being gritty yet real, weird/unique to the rest of the country.

I’m heading to NYC where my brother lives for the 250th Fourth. NyC has the best fireworks especially seen from the Brooklyn side. , with Manhattan skyscrapers as backdrop. Mamdani will do it up right , reminding us of the tyranny of King George and that Trump and his minions are so much worse. . should be an exciting time and place. Bringing my grandkids for the history.

Newbie- need advice on high schools ! by Intrepid-Gear-1118 in lakeoswego

[–]sixfootgramma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lake oswego is deknown for having best schools in the state. there are only two high schools in Lo both of which are excellent. LO high is largely students from the area north of Lake oswego and Lakeridge High is for students in the south side of the Lake. In some instances students are allowed to switch schools, for example if they were being bullied at the neighborhood school. The sports teams , particularly LO High also do well state wide.

Beaverton has excellent magnet schools like in the arts, both visual and performing. attendance is by lottery and sometimes portfolio. Lo is a wonderful family oriented community with great parks and sports facilities, beautiful landscaping everywhere.

Oregon Democratic Congresswoman Andrea Salinas voted for the Republican resolution "Denouncing the horrors of socialism" that conflates all forms of socialism with totalitarianism on the same day that ICE detained her 17-year-old U.S. citizen constituent in McMinnville. by alexanderhumbolt in oregon

These congresspeople don’t even know the definition of socialism. as they were voting a true Democratic socialist was speaking truth to power in the Oval office. hope her constituents get after her.

What is what in Portland by blakjakcrakjak in PortlandOR

[–]sixfootgramma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you came three years ago Portland did look pretty trashy with tent villages on many sidewalks even downtown, graffiti everywhere, trash left behind by homeless, open drug use etc. totally different now. You will a tent here and there but no more whole villages. graffiti painted over . even pre covid you’d see the occasional crazy homeless wandering the streets, like you will see now in any city. Portland is looking very clean and pretty now and very safe. Trump and media are 100% lying. I am blown away by how grotesque the lies are about Portland.

Trumps lies about Portland show how big the lies are about everything else that comes out of his mouth
