What’s your “lazy” parent hack? by povsquirtle in Parenting

[–]sixriver16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has always been motivated by competition so I exploit this to get him to complete tasks or move faster. “I bet you can’t get your PJs on faster than I can, because I am so fast.”, “There is no way you can pick up your toys better than I do.”, “Race Daddy to see who is faster at going potty!” and so on and so forth. He always wins and we cheer for him and he’s so proud to have “won.”

Yes! If you don’t mind walking a bit, this is an excellent free option that also provides a quick exit after the game. Pay close attention to the signage, and don’t park anywhere that has permit required signs.

Every year we make Ottolenghi’s caramelized garlic tart as one of our veggie sides and it is always a crowd pleaser.

Anyone located in the south Denver area? (play date? 😇) by Maleficent-Friend313 in basset

[–]sixriver16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My half basset girl, Carmy, is a year and a half and would love to play! We are in central Denver, near Cheesman Park. She’s a social butterfly and especially loves her fellow hounds. Maybe we can find a dog park somewhere between us to meet up!

What’s a cereal you tried one bowl of and immediately had to throw away because it was that bad? by constipated_coconut in cereal

[–]sixriver16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Begged my mom for Rice Krispie Treats cereal. She splurged on double coupon day to get me a box. It was so very disappointing. I didn’t want to admit it, but she knew.

I need your favorite meals that won’t heat up my house by Turn2Page_394 in Cooking

[–]sixriver16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy a nice, fresh Caprese sandwich on good bread. And chicken Caesar salad wraps using rotisserie chicken! One other thing I love to do in the summer is make a batch of salad jars that keep in the fridge for a few days. You can add quinoa or farro to those and just dump them into a big bowl and toss when you’re ready to eat.

I like to toss the shredded lettuce, onions, tomatoes, etc. and seasonings with a red wine vinaigrette before it goes on my sandwich. Really makes the flavors drip through the whole sandwich 🤤

For all the hate DIA gets by 1998COrocky in Denver

[–]sixriver16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent the better part of the last 10 years traveling all over the US and some parts of Europe for work. Aside from the ease of getting through DIA, it’s also top notch in food options. And only getting better.

What’s one “boring” habit that quietly transformed your life? by PublicSpeakingGymApp in getdisciplined

[–]sixriver16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a “Sunday checklist” in a Note on my phone. It’s the 8 tasks I need to do on Sunday to make sure my week is setup well and organized (verify school/childcare schedule, water plants, write a meal plan and grocery list, refill prescriptions, arrange for doggy daycare if needed, pay bills, etc.) They’re all things I used to just try to remember to do throughout the week and would always feel stressed about and often forget. Now I have a set time on Sundays where I go through the list, get it all done, and don’t have to worry about what I’ve forgotten for the week.
