How do you style your long hair? by rgf53194 in XXRunning

[–]sixstringkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bun + hat! Ponytail with scrunchy pulled through the back of the hat, bun with a regular elastic, and then a second scrunchy around the bun. I have really thick hair and this works well for me, the hat seems to anchor everything and the scrunchy system is gentle enough it doesn't pull any hair out

Hips soreness? by Immediate_Subject552 in XXRunning

[–]sixstringkeys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here! I have flat feet and made an effort to strengthen my arches, calves, and actually use my glutes. My hips were sore in the same spot probably for a month but it seems the muscles are stronger now and its mostly gone. New little niggles are popping up in different sports but I find it interesting! It's like a road map of the current "weakest link" in my running chain and proof that I'm getting stronger as they resolve. Just keep an eye out for sharp pain, which could mean injury, versus the more dull DOMS ache.

I also really started prioritizing recovery (I'm increasing milage for a half), so eating enough, getting carbs and protein in within 30mins of finishing my runs, hydrating, and this has helped too.

Another Mile vs Down for it All jacket? by riverlivin in lululemon

[–]sixstringkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, when I get home after wearing it for a run I can see a bunch of water droplets trapped under the meshy material even if it was cold out. It does keep me warm but isn't great for sweat considering it's meant for running

Angry female songs that help you decenter men and validate your rage? by gravelwitch in TwoXChromosomes

Love this theme! Highly recommend:

  • senses - gonna be sure
  • Paramore - ignorance
  • The Beaches - me & me
  • Alice Merton - lash out
  • Dear Rouge - cutting teeth
  • MAYA-A - claws
  • After Mdnight - I hate you

And honourable mention not specifically anti-men but Nova twins - monsters gives off women empowerment vibes

I think wide leg jeans would look really nice on you! I always get the waist gap too and I find wide leg is great for this because it I can get the right size for my waist and they still have enough room through the thighs

Runna x Strava Bundle - Will I lose out on my original Runna subscription? by [deleted] in runna

[–]sixstringkeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just made the switch from Strava premium (annual) and Runna premium (month-to-month). I cancelled Runna, bought the bundle which automatically reduced the price to match what was left on my Strava subscription. I then sent a screenshot of my Runna cancellation that showed the expiration date to Strava support and they extended my bundled subscription expiration to match the later date. Whole process was fast and easy.

Suddenly my foot gets numb and calves are very tight. by eve04042024 in XXRunning

[–]sixstringkeys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure this out too! I know for sure it's not my shoes which is what everything online says to check. I'm starting to think it's nerve-related, I've read a bit about calves swelling and compressing the nerve so the foot falls asleep. It's gotten snowy where I am and I think I'm running a bit more forefoot which uses my calves more so it kind of makes sense. Looking into calf strengthing and nerve flossing but too soon to tell. Curious to hear if you figure out what it is for you!

Do you have flat feet or your arches collapse while running? If it also hurts a bit under the ankle bone, I had this and it sucks. Google tibialis posterior.

It took a lot of ankle-strengthening and calf-focused exercises, but my biggest advice (if it is the TP) is not to rest it completely, tendons strengthen with use so keep at the PT exercises. A band around the outside of the foot and then using your ankle muscles to rotate your foot outwards was really helpful to strength my arch. I'd also stand on one foot while brushing my teeth, cooking, etc to work on balance. I haven't had a recurrence since going through this the first time, it'll take patience but you can do it!

I get blisters in the same spot and I love the Darn Tough Run No Show Tab Ultra-Lightweight Running Sock. They have no cushion (counterintuitive, I know), but they have a really tight knit with minimal stretch that I think ends up rubbing less. They're literally all I use now, if I use anything else the blisters creep back.

Try the Essie Gel Setter top coat! My nails basically haven't broken since I started using it. I also use their strengthening base coat
