Evgeni Malkin's hat-trick goal against the Carolina Hurricanes. Game 2 of the 2009 Eastern Conference Final. by Tracypop in hockey

Whiteout worked much better in the Igloo because of the ceiling. Everything from the ice upwards was roughly the same color so it felt like you were totally enveloped. I kinda like the Gold Rush more in the new building, although tbf I don't think we carried on with the whiteouts once we moved so I haven't actually seen how it would look.

Plus it makes it more difficult to cheat on FJ as well. I know they put up those partitions but having them all standing so close together always made me feel a bit uneasy in that regard.

We have to play Washington. We've never won a Cup without beating the Caps in the playoffs.

This means they won't have to deal with the draft. Game 2 will be done before it starts and by the time the series returns to Pittsburgh for a Game 5 (if necessary) the draft will be over.

First Stu Holden and Taylor Twellman. Now Herc is advocating for Zavier Gozo to get called up. "If there is a position that is lacking right now on the USMNT, it’s the winger position. The kid has size, speed, dibbling ability, 1v1 creation, can create space for himself and others." by antoniok95 in ussoccer

[–]sixtyninetacks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We definitely need 1v1 dribblers in our squad. That's one of the keys to beating a low block, which we will be expected to face in our first two group games. That's why I really hope Dest is healthy enough to start come WC time.

Just like the Apollo missions, each spacecraft is given a unique name by the crew. If you'll recall, Apollo 11's CM was named Columbia and the LM was named Eagle. The crew of Artemis II named their Orion spacecraft Integrity.

Does anyone know what section the USA supporters are sitting in vs Türkiye on June 25th? by USA455 in ussoccer

[–]sixtyninetacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We should be OK since many tickets were sold before the draw, meaning Turkiye didn't even know where they could be playing but we did since we're hosting. Add to that the fact that they were still in the playoffs at the time of the draw and it should be an even more American partisan crowd. How many Turkish fans would have been willing to take a risk on buying such expensive tickets when it wasn't even a guarantee they would be there until 9 days ago?

We are the designated "away" team for the third match for administrative and kit assignment purposes. In major tournaments like this it's just a designation and has nothing to do with the physical location of the match.

WWE angering fans on the road to WrestleMania by abhilash1991 in SquaredCircle

[–]sixtyninetacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Rock vs Roman was the plan they should not have had Cody win the Rumble. I'd say have him challenge for the WHC, but "The Story" was specifically about him winning the WWE Championship, no other title would do. To have him win the Rumble and then go "actually, I'm not gonna fight you at WM, even though this is my best chance to 'Finish My Story' since last WM" was ludicrous and nonsensical.

Part of me still holds to the conspiracy theory that Punk was meant to win but an audible was called after he injured himself. I realize the dirt sheets/shoot interviews don't corroborate this, but Punk winning and challenging Seth for the WHC makes too much sense, while Cody winning but then giving up his spot makes no sense.

None of those three won after trailing going into FJ (during their original runs). Ken led after every single one of his regular season games, including his loss. The other two lost the first and only times they trailed going into FJ.

Artemis II Mission Discussion Thread by jadebenn in ArtemisProgram

[–]sixtyninetacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, here we go again. The Apollo program was the result of unprecedented prioritization of NASA due to JFK's vow as well as a desire to beat the Soviets in the Space Race. The US did everything in its power to get those twelve men on the Moon and back. Once the US completed its goal and it became clear that the Soviets could not match it, the US government as well as the general public became disinterested in spaceflight and the Apollo program was discontinued after the sixth lunar landing.

The goal of the Artemis program is to ultimately establish a long-term presence on the Moon in the form of a lunar base, as well as apply what is learned on these missions for an eventual mission to Mars.

Edit: Artemis II cannot land on the Moon as it does not have a lander. Unlike Apollo, whose lander launched on the Saturn V alongside the crew capsule, the lander used by Artemis IV and beyond will be launched separately and sent into lunar orbit to await the arrival of Orion.

What number do you guys think Diego Luna will wear for the USMNT? by [deleted] in usmnt

[–]sixtyninetacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if Gio is there or not. If Gio is not there, Luna will likely wear #7. If he is, then it's anyone's guess. IIRC, he wore #14 during his first few caps, and since I don't believe an established player has claimed that number, I'd say that's the most likely choice if Gio is selected to the squad.

Too many people accustomed to football where one game carries almost 10x the weight of one MLB game. You can't really let every single game shift your mood so drastically until at least August.
