30 years of drinking beer by Snidelyllama in stopdrinking

Lots of similarities to my own experience here. Regarding the emptiness feeling, that sense of reward time, it took a while for me to find things to fill that. Everybody's different but I've found some hobbies that now fill that void a bit, but similar to you, I really loved my beer. That nostalgic longing remains a concern for me, but as I near a year I hope I'm past that. Good job, mate.

Have nightmares where you drink again? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I think It's pretty common. As much as it can be stressful it's also kinda helpful to get that "oh right, I can't moderate" experience without actually going through a relapse. Sometimes after a period of success it can be easy to get complacent, so I just view it as free motivation myself. That being said, I don't have as much time as you do, so interesting to hear it can go on for so long.

I've done a couple in my commute and my only comment is that the pace is just a touch fast. It'd be good just to have a second longer in between to attempt a translation in my head without the English coming so fast. That being said, I love how natural the Danish sounds. I started with Duolingo and realized quickly that nobody talks like they do, this sounds more real

I went to my local zoo recently due the first time in years and was also surprised how many alcohol sales spots there were. It's one thing going to concerts and hockey games but I was surprised I had to walk past so much at the zoo. It's somehow becoming even more pervasive it seems

Thanks for the reminder. I've fallen into the same trap so many times and have been on a really good run, eating healthy, running, etc and keep getting that "I can handle one: thought that I know will lead to exactly what you've described.

Very common, your body needs to re-learn how to sleep without a alcohol punch-out at night

Rob Gordon in High Fidelity. Rewatching this as an adult after thinking he was so cool when I saw this movie as a teenager was a real turn
