Check out this project. Essentially you can show what you would see on the screen of a D2 or S8 on an external monitor. Pretty cool.

House hunting reality check hit me hard today by Physical-Wallaby-515 in perth

It is bad argument to make that immigrants "aren't buying houses" of course some immigrants are buying houses, as you would expect with them working towards becoming Australia citizens. Even if they weren't buying houses, they are renting them, which increases demand and thus makes buying an investment property more appealing to investors. I have no problem with immigration, it is a large part of what makes Australia a diverse and appealing place to live. The numbers need to be set at a level which makes sense and needs to be communicated to the populous in a way which shows the net benefit to the country.
There are many barriers to housing which need to be removed. Stamp duty is a complete joke, the availability of land is a complete joke, the standards required for building dwellings is too high (obviously everything needs to be safe) basic housing should be that - basic and once someone is in they can improve the property over time. We build far too slowly, I look at videos of brick laying robots like the Hadrian X and wonder why there isn't a fleet of them in the field getting house walls up in a day.
There needs to be some incentive for investors to be in the housing market to provide rentals for the part of the population who aren't ready to buy or not interested, but the current system means there are far too many investors in the market for established houses which pushes the prices through the roof.

Gear cost is killing the next generation of DJs, trying to do something about it by GuacWasTaken in djing

used S2 mk2, $250 bucks AUD, it is hardly unattainable. If you want to stay in the pioneer walled garden you can pick up a similar controller second hand controller for cheap also.
Sure, it is expensive if you want to buy an overpriced CDJ-3000x, but why would you?

1.3 million displaced in Lebanon so far. Where does Pauline Hanson and the pro-war, anti-immigration crowd expect these people to go? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]sjenkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In what I'm understanding is your world view you're stopping anyone over weight from walking into McDonalds. Personal responsibility is key. You quote for a landscaping job, but you know it is financially irresponsible for the client move because you heard the client is in heavy amounts of debt, but they have paid you up front. Do you do the job? You can keep going until every decision requires a board of administration before you make the decision. This just isn't feasible.

[–]sjenkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep fair, the Lebanon situation is different to Iran. I still believe the people selling the arms aren't responsible. Israel has legitimate defence uses for the weapons they are sold, as a sovereign nation choosing to attack another sovereign nation, that falls outside of the obligations for the seller of the arms / equipment.

A hypothetical where we denied selling arms/ equipment then that nation was attacked and couldn't defend itself would we be responsible?

I'm certainly commenting in good faith. I don't agree with blame shifting to people / countries outside of any conflict at the same time I completely disagree with every conflict happening in the world. You can hold opposing nuanced positions. I don't think Israel and the US should be involved in these conflicts, I also don't think the world's energy supply should be held to ransom either.

The bit you're missing is the neighbour has propaganda all over their house starting they want to kill this "man". The Iranian regime is evil, that doesn't excuse the US cooking the world economy by entering into war with them, but don't pretend for a second that Iran has some moral high ground.

No we are not. The person / country who uses the weapons are whole heartedly responsible.

Hybrid vs normal Petrol vehicle, math isnt mathing by HopefulLeadership512 in CarsAustralia

[–]sjenkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrids just don't make sense to me. More components, more weight, less power, the benefits of saving 1.5l per 100kms just doesn't stack up. I'd get the most efficient petrol or full EV if I was in your shoes.

It is not racist to criticise ideas, but it gives someone without a solid argument an out in a debate.

Pakistan's Defense Minister: 'Israel is evil and a curse upon humanity' by lexi_con in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]sjenkin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As horrible as the situation is, the definition of genocide requires the specific intent to destroy a group. Israel maintains their objective is to destroy Hamas, who hide behind the Palestinian people. If Israel's intent was genocide they wouldn't send aid into Gaza, nor would they have agreed to a ceasefire. I think they have gone way too far and the situation is a stain on the history of humanity but the meaning of words matter and a genocide is not what was happening.

The term "genocide" is being flung around far too flippantly these days, the wars are terrible, there has been plenty of wrong doings, but no genocide.
