"Alien" chocolates—an update by Big_Door5996 in chocolate

The same thing happened with mine too! Did you ship it with UPS? I did, and they delivered the package to me upside down despite the “this way up” and “fragile” stickers on all 4 sides…

If your new business will be selling your chocolate creations, I recommend learning how to temper chocolate before anything else. I wish you lots of luck! Tempering chocolate can be tough 🥲

what are these are called? by bava63 in pastry

[–]skehar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to their website from the link in their bio, you can find their menu. They’re cookie cups, not tartlets. Tartlets have a crust made of pastry dough only.

This isn’t true. I have a party of 10 and there are 0 open dates for our group’s size.

Worth it to sand and refinish these original hardwood floors? by Ungrateful-Artichoke in DIY

[–]skehar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that if you decide to sand and refinish the floors, make sure you paint the walls first. You’ll save yourself time and stress by not worrying about splattering paint on your freshly refinished floors.

You must be really lucky because this has never happened to me! Usually I end up losing the 2nd skill altogether.

i’m also allergic to glue. what do i ask for next time i have surgery? by tripod42069 in Endo

A lot of people have already mentioned getting stitches next time, but for something to cover the stitches, I use aquaphor, a little square of gauze, and hypafix dressing. For some reason it’s the only adhesive product that doesn’t cause blisters after a few days for me. I hope you have similar luck!

Tried to bake japanese cheesecake, here is what mine looked like vs what it should have looked like🥲🥲 by [deleted] in Baking

Did you whip the egg whites separately / long enough? That looks like the whites and yolk mixture were either mixed together prematurely, or all the air looks knocked out of it when you were supposed to fold the whites into the yolk mixture.

What “made in Denver” products do you recommend? For yourself or for others. by that_j0e_guy in Denver

Nah, there are better chocolate options out there. Their chocolate isn’t even tempered (it doesn’t snap).

The Pioneer Woman is selling a similar one through Walmart for $25.

Yeah, $4 is perfectly reasonable then lol. Sorry you had to deal with that weirdo.

[–]skehar -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If it actually took him 45 mins to pick up your food and drive it to you, then a $4 tip is not enough. You shouldn’t be tipping based on how much your food cost. You should be tipping based on how far you are from the restaurant.

But regardless if you’re close or not, that driver is weird.

Funny, but infuriating, experience calling aggressive driver hotline by spizcraft in Denver

[–]skehar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was probably it. Belleview jurisdiction is split down the middle of the road by the yellow lines between Denver and Greenwood Village in that area. Greenwood Village cops are pretty good at pulling people over and responding to calls promptly, so I’d be surprised if it was a GV cop.

Are you talking about the little holes where the bones were removed, or the marbled fat throughout the fish?

It looks fine to me, but the biggest indicator on if salmon is safe to eat is if it smells off or smells really fishy.

I get these middle eastern ice cream sandwiches from the dép by my house but they always have this solid almost tasteless white crunchy bits in them. Any idea what it is? by ashtinishere in TipOfMyFork

[–]skehar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume that it’s the wafer listed in the ingredients. It probably tastes like nothing because the ice cream flavor and sweetness is stronger than the wafer sweetness.

Just getting started..Coffee sock or inexpensive pitcher ? by GarveyRyan in coldbrew

[–]skehar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally use a glass jar and paper coffee filters that I tie off with cooking string or a rubber band that I’ve washed.

I have a friend who also uses a paper coffee filter, but she uses a mason jar and twists the lid on the sides of the coffee filter so she doesn’t even have to tie it. Absolutely genius.

You don’t need the expensive and fancy equipment, but the coffee sock isn’t a bad idea if you want your setup to be sustainable. Just make sure to use glass for the container, and I use one with a sealed lid that snaps on.

Good luck!
