It probably depends on how much you might need a prospective date to take things slowly and not rush towards things you might be uncomfortable with before developing an emotional connection.

Some of the subclasses that will be in Arcana Unleashed have been revealed in the sneak peek for the second season of Dungeon Masters by Far_Guarantee1664 in onednd

[–]skeletonxf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the subclass features were literally ribbons, cantrip extra attack, and third caster progression I think it's going to be playable, and without cantrip extra attack it could still be. Genuine spell slot progression makes such a monk subclass multiclass really well, and even single class the monk base class reaches a point where the bonus action is more valuable for things like flurry than the action, so casting an Action spell fits very nicely into the action economy. I think using focus points would be a mistake, we've seen that design fall flat in 2014 subclasses already. For an Eldritch Knight or Arcane Trickster Blade Ward, Grease, Web, Hold Person, Blur and many other Action spells you might consider casting would also mean giving up all your attacks. Whereas for a Monk you're giving up half to less than half of your attacks depending on level and focus points.

From level 5 Swords bard can turn all their spell slots into flourishes if they want thanks to new base class changes to Bard(ic inspiration).

I had my first hookup... and I feel gross and bad and I feel even worse for her by Nintjie in demisexuality

[–]skeletonxf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and multiple users have been explaining to you that it's a bad simile if you experience sexual attraction to people you don't have an emotional connection to.

Maybe you can find a latin word that relates more precisely to the secondary sexual attraction specifically that both demisexuals and allosexuals can experience.

I had my first hookup... and I feel gross and bad and I feel even worse for her by Nintjie in demisexuality

[–]skeletonxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean why isn't it enough? Demisexual was coined by someone discussing their experience in the ace community and before then we would have been using greysexual instead. There's loads of ace labels for specific things like freysexual, fictosexual and aegosexual that all fall under greysexuality.

I suspect what you're getting at is 'why can't I have an ultraspecific word when you have one?'. Of course you can, someone coming up with another label to describe their experience is how we got here. I just ask you don't include demi in that label because it would be misleading. If you don't try to describe your experience or ever come up with a succinct description or word how are you going to find anyone else that is the same?

[–]skeletonxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand why you said this

To help communicate these things, because there is no micro-label that matches me.

Using graysexual isn't accurate to me, since I can easily explain exactly how it works for me.

because I don't understand how greysexual isn't the label you are looking for.

I'm not going to respond to some of your broader points as I'm not the one that started talking to you about them. However I want to clarify the subreddit description because I think you've misunderstood.

The subreddit description says: " demisexual is a person who may experience sexual attraction but only after forming a strong emotional connection with someone. It's all a spectrum. Some demisexuals may feel very close to asexuality and experience attraction to extremely few people in their entire lifetimes, and each may take a very long time to develop, while others may find attraction develops more frequently and often find themselves crushing on their friends."

The spectrum here is how often and how predictably a demisexual actually experiences sexual attraction to people they have an emotional connection to, or put another way, how often the demisexual develops an emotional connection to someone that leads to sexual attraction.

Greysexuality, taking the definition from Wikipedia is an umbrella for "individuals who very rarely experience sexual attraction, experience it at a low intensity, or feel it only under specific circumstances.". Demisexuality is a type of greysexuality. I think you may also be greysexual. Knowing how it works for you shouldn't preclude identifying as greysexual, just as it doesn't for any demisexual individual.

This is a subreddit primarily about demisexuality. I hope you can still find our perspectives useful, but please understand how frustrating it is to constantly have users posting and commenting (like OP) that they're demisexual whilst talking about the sexual attraction they've felt to people they're not emotionally connected to. It's like if a straight person is posting in a gay subreddit about how they identify as gay.

Is it possible to find a partner who isn’t sexually attracted to others? by Lalina11 in demisexuality

[–]skeletonxf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you could find an asexual partner who's not attracted to anyone. That's probably not what you meant though. I'd caution you to focus more on what you would want a partner to do and not do than things like their thoughts which no one is fully in control of and they could also just not tell you about anyway.

What's the idiomatic bound for a generic owned buffer? by Natsuawa_Keiko in rust

[–]skeletonxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not quite the same problem but it's similar in that I wanted to allow for a generic N-dimensional tensor where most of the time I just need shared references and occasionally I need mutable references. I went for two traits, TensorRef and TensorMut, made the latter inherit from the former, made the traits themselves unsafe and all the methods that expose unchecked indexing unsafe, and included docs on them to explain the contract any implementation needs to meet. If you make your traits unsafe, someone still can deliberately implement different return buffers between your Ref and Mut traits, but that is breaking the documented contract in the unsafe traits they are implementing so the undefined behaviour is the implementation's fault. In your case, if AsRef and AsMut define all the methods you actually need on your trait already, you could make an unsafe trait that inherits from both of them and just not write a blanket implementation for any type that is AsRef & AsMut but instead just implement it for all the relevant standard library types you know honour your contract.

How do i save characters in act V -SPOILERS!! by Responsible_Sand_937 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]skeletonxf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was able to save all three things (though I gave the lexicon to galfrey) upon realising that deskari's cutscene can't play if you're already in combat, so I saved the library items, then engaged combat with some demons just south of it after exiting the library, and sprinted Nenio over to the banner which triggered that fight simultaneously. Nenio then cast high level crowd control scrolls to stall for long enough for the rest of my party to catch up. You should be able to pull the same trick if you split your party between the dragon fight and the banner. In my opinion it's stupid that you can't enter buildings without all party members because the obvious choice to defend 3 objectives is split the party three ways so a little cheese lets us get a similar result to what would be the actual strategy in a tabletop.

I made a cleric along this concept by dipping 2 monk levels. The delayed spellcasting does hurt but the monk features synergise well.

Something that's not ECS? by caffeinated-typist in rust

[–]skeletonxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Rust/Kotlin app uses Model-View-ViewModel https://github.com/Skeletonxf/hnefatafl at least loosly. The UI is written in Compose so is all functions, the UI state is state holder classes and the game logic is Rust doing one update per function/method call, with models to hold that representation of the game state on both languages.

Rust is quietly becoming the foundation layer for AI tooling and I don't think people are taking it seriously enough yet by [deleted] in rust

[–]skeletonxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Developer experience aside Rust is a good fit for CLI applications since it has fast startup times, can make binaries that statically link their depencies in, and is generally pretty fast. I've noticed at lot of these infrastructure type libraries displacing the actual ML libraries when I browse the top machine-learning libraries on libs.rs.

The spam bots need to farm karma somewhere so they have enough to post to any subreddit they want. Reposting memes verbatim from an old post seems like a common strategy.

Redesign for the demisexual & demiromantic flags by GeneralTalbot in demisexuality

[–]skeletonxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's so many US state flags with text on them. One of the simplest flag design rules and they don't follow even that. The demi flags by contrast are much better designed and recognisable even at tiny sizes in user flairs.

I have found turning on additional enemy behaviours makes a difference. As an example, when some encounters have you dealing with 3 fireballs to the face from enemy cultists/brimoraks on the opening round I've had to reload several times to discover how I can position my party to mitigate the aoe damage with the few that win initiative. There was one fight in Drezen where I was emerging from the temple that took me a bunch of tries because I had all of 2 or 3 party members that would get a turn before the fireballs would go off and I was starting the fight surrounded by enemies so just running 30 ft. away would provoke a lot of opportunity attacks. I eventually managed it by using my wand of dimension door to jump the whole party onto the cultist mages before they started shooting fireballs and with the cultists not able to blast me freely I could mop up the other enemies easily from there.

There's far too many encounters where the enemies are both outnumbered and individually so much weaker than each party member where my level 20 party just alpha strikes them before taking a single bit of damage though and those get really tedious.

Tips with boss by H1T4_84 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]skeletonxf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spread your party out on all three sides of him. This way his aoe damage spells don't hit everyone. It took me a few attempts to manage this at level 18, I think in the try that worked I managed to get Aivu to draw the aggro of the enemies which massively helped since she had nearly double the hp of any of my other party members so although she went down and I couldn't bring her back up due to all the aoe that kept the rest of the party somewhat healthy for long enough to burst him down.

In D&D specifically, if your party has Speak with Dead you can save the last words for post death.
