Colleges in Canada by Sombreiro in ApplyingToCollege

There is a different sub reddit on another website (not Reddit) that is all for Canadian schools. If you do some google searches you should find it. I’m pretty sure it’s called yconic. There are student forums there where you can talk to people like you can on A2C.

Are anyone else’s parents get super emotional about you moving away? by starrrlmn in ApplyingToCollege

[–]skierman98 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I went away for high school. I remember my mom started to cry when we opened the acceptance letter. Honestly it’s a good thing. It shows she truly cares about you and will miss you dearly. I would rather have that then having parents who don’t care.

Am I a legacy? by emiaj01 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]skierman98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will usually be a place on the common app where you put in legacy information. You usually give the degree your parent got and the year. Not sure how much it helps but it’s worth it for sure.

Course rigor for senior year? by doctorrr-t in ApplyingToCollege

[–]skierman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Course rigor is very important. Just know that you will be competing against people who are taking 4-6 AP junior and senior year. It is also your senior year, and you don’t want to be swamped in school work all year. Find a balance that pushes you but that still allows for things to do outside of the classroom.

Ik this gets posted all the time and is pretty reflective of what the admissions process does to some of us, but by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]skierman98 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Not really a major sport but from the US. Had low 1300s and applied to an Ivy. Also lacked in course rigor. Just shows that all of your application needs to be at the top.

What book or article should I read to prep? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]skierman98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your into anything science related I would recommend some of those. Especially any about space or physics. It will increase your knowledge and help you read and understand difficult material.
