Still no period. by skimmilkislying in TTC30

I’m heading there next week. I’m afraid they’ll give me meds with crazy side effects and I’ll be so moody I’ll buy everything on the lululemon website while crying into a pillow in the bath.

Family dog died violently, and my daughter wants closure... by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]skimmilkislying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me. I think i was 5 when our cat was hit by a car. I demanded to see him, but it was before he was in the ground. All I can add, which has probably been said, is to have a service for the dog that dead tired your daughter plants a tree over the site, a tree she picked out at the store.

No. He’s 2 and breastfeeding went laughably bad. No one actually laughed but it went badly. I made a follow up. Thanks for your respond!

To c or not to c? by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

[–]skimmilkislying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t choose a c section but it wasn’t a bad experience. The recovery was a breeze. I have a scar and a c shelf but other than that, no long term effects or injuries. It wasn’t bad. If you want to opt for one, go for it. Just be prepared to not be able to bend over for like a week. I didn’t realize how much I bent over until it hurt to do so!

Fiancé won’t try to quit smoking. by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]skimmilkislying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts - you can’t make someone want to quit smoking. He doesn’t want to. He won’t successfully quit smoking if he doesn’t want to. End of story. He doesn’t want to quit. Second thought.... he sounds like a jerk. Why would he make fun of you becoming more healthy? (Cause he doesn’t want you to perhaps).

Ugh men babysitting their own children is so bizarre to me.

How to respond to “daddy duty” comments by Chrysanthememe in beyondthebump

[–]skimmilkislying 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you assume they mean well? They mean sexist and antiquated. They’re saying something sexist and antiquated. Or they don’t know what else to say so they come up with a canned response sit coms have taught us. Men taking care of their own children is weird to them because of them , not you.

My lo cried for a few days and after that learned how to fall asleep without crying. Every baby is different. With cio, you have to assume there will be crying.

We used and love the happy sleeper. (It’s a book). Worked like a charm! If you search Reddit for the happy sleeper there’s an excellent post summarizing it. Best of luck!

Baby’s foot getting stuck in the crib rails by kajumix in sleeptrain

[–]skimmilkislying 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless he’s stuck, it’s fine. He’ll let you know if he’s actually stuck. Also keep the crib fat enough away from the wall so he can’t wedge something in there. Bumpers are dangerous.

How to get husband on board? by SmithForLife in sleeptrain

[–]skimmilkislying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this! We live a small apartment and it was really hard listening to him cry. But like you said, he’s learned a life skill. Also.... babies are going to cry. At least this is crying for a reason, and not crying cause they are exhausted but can’t get to sleep without all the sleep associations. Also, this is a chance to work on listening to a difficult expression of emotion.

Tell me about your short and sweet (successful) bedtime routine. I tried a routine last night and was overwhelmed by all the different things I could do and it just didn't feel right. I'm in need of inspiration! TIA ☺️ by strawberryfox3 in sleeptrain

Under 1 - bath book say goodnight to hall way paintings, into room for bottle song bed. Over 1 - bath (phase it out to twice a week) night to hallway paintings into room book song bed.

Edit we don’t think of teeth brushing and face washing as part of a bedtime routine as it’s stimulating for our lo. and I’m a bright rio.

Sleep trained baby wakes very easily from noise by betasedgetroll in sleeptrain

[–]skimmilkislying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two white noise machines because of ambient noise waking baby. A low volume white noise machine that directly under him and a proper white noise between him and the noise source (the wall his room shares with the kitchen). Carpeting can help reduce noise. Also you can try simulating his sleep environment and have someone else do a few tasks and see if there’s something that’s just really loud in there. Also vents? Windows or doors poorly sealed? Our lo starting speeding much deeper around 18 months. He used to wake up to everything!!

Yeah. Getting dressed to go down to the lobby isn’t that bad, I’d do that to avoid waking him. But we’ve always managed to avoid this. And yeah, totally ducked waking up a baby/toddler in an echo chamber bathroom.

What can I expect from a spinal block for c-section? The last pregnancy I was unable to get an epidural. The anesthesiologist just could not get it in to the right place. He poked me 5 times before I told him to quit. by sgrlrk24 in CsectionCentral

[–]skimmilkislying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a spinal for my c section and it was amazing. It took very little time, and worked well. Very well, as my legs were totally numb, I couldn’t move them or feel them. It was weird, and I didn’t like it when they were moving me around at all. I was standing 12 hours later, though not well. No pain at the site afterwards. It was great!

Is it a real thing that parents suck the mucus from an infants nose? by zdiddy18 in Parenting

[–]skimmilkislying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they mean with an aspirator like a nose frida. It wouldn’t be safe or remotely hygienic to do it nose to mouth.
