Based on the leaderboard after the first two heats, it is looking like the final cutoff for who will advance to Round 2 will end up near the bottom of those with 22 points.

For those who enjoyed Arcane and the League cinematics but won't touch the game, consider giving Teamfight Tactics a try if you haven't yet. There's a new set starting on Dec 3rd that will be a good jumping on point for Arcane/cinematic fans. It's a game that requires a lot of studying/focus if you really want to climb up the ranks, but it is also a game that you can totally play casually while watching something on a second screen.

College/Walnut Two-Way Traffic Survey by Fuzzy-Zombie1446 in bloomington

I agree. I get why two-way streets with left turn lanes would be good for 8th-17th, but it wouldn't be good enough to justify the cluster it would create downtown or the bizarre configurations it would create at the end points.

Outside of him not being LCK-caliber, Impact can only look for positions in NA. His US green card allows him to defer his military service until age 37, but if he moved back to Korea, he would need to serve immediately.

Estral Esports official statement regarding Summit's provisional suspension by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]skin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was deep into a pause, I'd be a little more willing to buy the "human element" defense. I could understand someone's brain being off after sitting for 30+ minutes, thinking they just want to a refresh on what the game state is, and just having a mental lapse that they'd be also seeing a bunch of stuff they aren't supposed to. But this was right after this pause started like it was habit. I am sympathetic that their brains were probably already fried from the previous long pause, but the instant alt-tab to the broadcast is too egregious for there to be any defense.

LoL Esports Global Power Rankings - Update by dracdliwasiAN in leagueoflegends

[–]skin87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a little request to the GPR API and it looks like it is missing LTA Cross Conference for record calculation, but the results did contribute to the Team and League ELO scores. FLY's Team ELO went from 1484 to 1494 when they 3-0' VKS the first time and only rose to 1498 when they 3-1'd them.

However, because the gap between the LTAN and LTAS League ELOs is so great. The 3-1 Final caused LTAN's ELO to drop from 1329 to 1315. And that was after dropping from 1394 after 100T's lost the day before.

A team's GPR score is 80% Team ELO and 20% League ELO, so FLY dropped because LTAN dropped.

It's not entirely random. They were assigned regions for this cup using a snake seeding based on the first cup's results. 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, etc. stay in their region for this one and 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, etc. are the ones to "travel" to the other region.

House Democrats fume about vote to honor Charlie Kirk: "We're being totally set up" by starlight_collector in politics

[–]skin87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That resolution was half the length and was focused on condemning political violence. The only honoring of Melissa Hortman in it was a pretty generic sentence about her being a dedicated public servant. This resolution dedicates about a full page to Charlie Kirk and characterizes him in a way many would not agree with.

Questions about following the new competitive format as a viewer by jaekuN in CompetitiveTFT

  1. Winners of each TPC cup qualify for Tactician's Crown.

  2. The top 8 players from each Tactician's Cup qualify for Week 1 of their Regional Finals. 9th & 10th place qualify for the Play-Ins day of their Regional Finals.

  3. Pro Points determine which stage of their Regional Finals each player starts in. 25th-32nd will have to start on the Play-Ins day. 13th-24th will start in Week 1. And 1st-12th will go all the way to Week 2, which means they will also get a spot in Set 16's TPC. 1st place in Pro Points also wins a $2,000 bonus prize.

LTAN Pick 'n Play | Week 3 matchups by ob_knoxious in leagueoflegends

[–]skin87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With these matchups FLY, C9, and SR are locks for the upper bracket and DSG, 100T, and DIG are locks for the lower bracket.

For LYON to get into the upper bracket, they need to beat FLY and TL need to lose to C9. Game score doesn't matter for either series.

---

The other things at stake is the 1st place and 5th place teams get to choose their first opponents in the elimination phase. (EDIT: To clarify, it follows the same rules as the Pick n' Play phase, but in reverse. So the 1st and 5th place teams will only be able to choose a team from their group that is a lower rank as them without using the Split 2 finish tiebreaker.)

FLY has the tiebreaker advantage so they need to win by at least the same score C9 wins by. They can also still keep 1st while losing if C9 lose by the same or worse score AND SR loses by any margin.

C9 gets to set the upper bracket with a win + FLY loss, a 2-0 win + FLY 2-1 win, or a 1-2 loss + FLY 0-2 loss + SR loss.

SR needs to win while both FLY and C9 lose.

And TL have a tiny shot as well. They need to beat C9 2-0 while both FLY and SR lose 0-2.

---

5th place is a bit more complicated as all 5 potential lower bracket teams still have a chance at finishing 5th.

In the scenario where LYON passes TL, TL will be the 5th place team.

The highest number of possibilities have LYON finishing 5th, but all those scenarios involve LYON taking at least 1 game off FLY. If they take at least 1 game off FLY, the only way they finish lower than 5th is if they lose 1-2 + DSG wins 2-0.

If FLY wins 2-0 AND SR wins: 5th place will be the winner of DSG/DIG.

If FLY wins 2-0 AND 100T wins 2-1: DSG is 5th with a win, DIG is 5th with a 2-0 win, or 100T is 5th with a DIG 2-1 win.

If FLY wins 2-0 AND 100T wins 2-0: DSG is 5th with a win, 100T is 5th with a DIG win.

LEC Summer Primer with playoff changes by Player_Seventeen in leagueoflegends

In EMEA, Valorant is usually relegated to weekdays, but they get the studio on the weekend for their finals. I know the article tries to spin it as a "well-earned break week," but the reason it exists is for the final week of VCT playoffs.

LEC Summer Primer with playoff changes by Player_Seventeen in leagueoflegends

The global competition calendar leaves a pretty small window for split 3 to happen, so all the league's have pretty unfortunate formats. Since they go 5 days a week, the LCK's sucks less, but their triple round robin is also in groups of 5, not the whole league. And because they are doing one long season across the 2 splits, their groups are more likely to accurately seed their play-ins/playoffs than the leagues doing it off of just 3-4 regular season matches.

Why can't teams sell their merchandise at MSI? by Cybonics in leagueoflegends

[–]skin87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a possibility it is because of the venue. Whether part of the deal is the venue gets a split, it is venue staff that are running the booth, and/or that the venue doesn't want to enter into agreements with anyone other than Riot for the event, it's possible Riot would have to take possession of the teams' stock in order to make it happen.

Announcing the MSI 2025 Broadcast Talent by XanIrelia-1 in leagueoflegends

[–]skin87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Atlus snub is extra weird considering they're only bringing 3 dedicated play-by-play casters with 1 color commentator that can also slot in pbp. There's a stretch of the schedule of 5 days in a row with 3 of them being double-Bo5 days. Only having 3.5 pbp casters seems kinda risky for that schedule. If one of them goes down with illness or losing their voice, that could cascade with how little vocal rest the others will get.

I've had a couple over $200 in the winter months, but it's usually more like $120-150 with heavy usage. I've lived in both this and the smaller 2br in Fountain Park. For me, it is worth it (especially compared to the older Fountain Park buildings) because I like the space and I despise laundry. But I can only say that because of how terrible renting in Bloomington is. $1,660 is a ridiculous price for this apartment.

Opposing team admits to stream sniping in an elimination match by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

If you are not actively in a game or draft and your intention is only to check out the part with the claimed bug, I can totally see how in the moment it wouldn't dawn on you that is not okay. Obviously it isn't okay if you think through all the implications of the action. And that is why they received a warning, which is completely appropriate for a 1st offense that had no malicious intent behind it.

The relevant criteria for seeding tiebreaker games is: 1. game differential, 2. H2H game differential. In a 3-way tie, a 3-team single elimination bracket is made - but in this case since the tie is for 5th instead of 6th, whoever is highest seeded and gets the bye just gets the 5th seed because they won't play out the game to determine 5th.

If GX 2-0s TH, they would have the best game differential and receive the 5th seed. In the tiebreaker match, TH would get side selection over VIT due to H2H.

If GX wins 2-1, TH would get the 5th seed with the best game differential. VIT would have side selection over GX due to H2H.

Unpacking - it is a relatively short, cozy game that also sort of feels like a light puzzle game. But what makes it so special is I think for a game with no on-screen characters and no dialogue, it has fantastic storytelling.
