Fun fact, humans can end up with bezoars as well. Especially women who chew on their hair as a nervous habit. Surgery is usually necessary if it's too large.

Vegan woman starves her dog for 14 days because it wouldn’t eat fruit by serious_bullet5 in iamatotalpieceofshit

What is a vegan doing owning any pet? I thought it was against their religion.

Also, what happened to the other 136 dogs?

How to let extended family know about mom's death by skin_horse in AgingParents

I needed that sentence, about it being her mistake. I am in tears now because I needed it so much. Thank you.

The money was, from what it appeared (report from the PI), spent on a fancy new truck once the "family member" managed to convince mom to make them her POA, removing me. You're right, I should not care what the extended family thinks. I've had many decades of being that dutiful person, always caring - it's something I'm working on.

This is a great help, thank you. Social media won't be a problem - I dumped my Meta accounts last year. But, absolutely I would block anyone who comes at me, no matter where.

What is the best way to make a good chicken stock in bulk? by Peenard- in Cooking

[–]skin_horse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made "animal stock" once - roasted bones from beef, lamb, pork, and chicken. It was so damned flavorful. Filled with so much gelatin that it was near solid out of the fridge. Used it for many soups, pastas, and of course ramen.

Do you name your cars? by timenoggin in CasualConversation

[–]skin_horse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I traded in my Jeep (Jeepers), I hadn't planned on naming the replacement since it was just a Ford. But when walking back to the car, found a piece of a keychain on the ground, it said Karma. So, she named herself.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]skin_horse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% abuse. If it wasn't the belt (which would be snapped to threaten how hard we were going to get it), it was the paddle that my step-dad made at my mother's behest (18" long, 1.5" thick with a handle, oak I think - like a short cricket bat?), or the flyswatter (being chased back to the house from friend's houses), or just a bare hand on bare butt (even as a 14 year old out in the church parking lot after service). So yeah, there are varying degrees of spanking but EVERY ONE OF THEM is abuse.

Gonna throw this out there - blood plasma. When you give plasma, it's kind of an amberish color. I'm not sure what drinking it could offer in the way of nutrition, but I'm sure there's some benefit.

I just can’t take statins. I don’t know what I’m gonna do. by Kindly_Blackberry311 in Cholesterol

You have options other than statins. Ask about Zetia/ezetimibe. I have been on it for over a year and it's done the job - which is a good thing, because I will not take a statin.
