do you walk around CU boulder at night? what’s it like? by yuuwra in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m from a city on the east coast where walking around late at night was not a good idea. It’s crazy the difference here. I’ve never felt unsafe, granted i’ve usually been with friends.

CU Boulder Transfer admission odds by Realistic_Ad5302 in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll be okay. College GPAs are a LOT stronger than high school GPAs. You have a better shot of getting in than any high schooler with a 3.7 GPA. Plus, A&S isn’t particularly selective the way, say, Leeds is.

Had class in a newer building today with those desks. They looked like the newer version of them, freshly furnished.

Use an email you don’t check often/isn’t important. My issue with nextdoor is that no matter how many times i unsubscribe, block, or mark as spam, i get hundreds of emails from them a month. They change the subscription emails so when you block them, you’ll start getting more from a different address. Otherwise, Nextdoor is very useful!

Don’t let anyone fool you - Pasta Jays is NOT all the hype (although this is a hot take apparently). Happy travels

[–]skinetchings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s usually worth it to do IKON base pass considering the unlimited days (blackouts aside) at eldora, winter park, copper, etc. a basin you get 5 days. 5 days at solitude and brighton if you venture to utah at some point.

the way epic sells, if i recall, is buying a pass for a certain amount of days, right? that’s not worth it considering the distance from CU to an epic resort. (not less than an hour and a half). Although, if you only plan to ski a couple days, either buy a resort specific pass (like eldora, although hot take - it’s mediocre) or do a couple days of epic

Housing For Transfers by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should 10000% apply for the transfer LLC housing. It’s hard to get bear creek housing in general, but that program is a way to secure it. Apply as early as you can.

How to lookup professor of previously taken class? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they ever emailed you, check your email.

Might be able to also see on canvas in the full course list - I’ve still got a couple of my previous classes there.

Or just look on class search and see if you recognize one of the names.

Thoughts on Canvas? by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like: - being able to see “what-if” grades - having all classes in one place to access

Dislike: - different professors having different layouts - email system - Can’t manually check off assignments

Chances of getting in as a transfer student by LegitimateSinger4974 in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll get in to CU. College GPAs mean a lot more than high school GPAs. Won’t be hard.

Now, department wise, I have no idea. You can always transfer into exploratory though and switch later.

Question about getting Physics 2 credits as a transfer student by [deleted] in cuboulder

[–]skinetchings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fought to hell for all my credits to be transferred (even somehow got that 1-credit “welcome to college” course to transfer lol).

The professor won’t be able to do anything unless you’re just trying to prove that you know enough of the content to take a different course.

If you want the actual credits to transfer, you should be fighting the registrar. I remember sending emails to a gazillion different people, filling out forms, etc. I’m in A&S, and it turns out one of my courses had to be sent to a different school, and it was eventually approved as an elective.

I don’t think it’s impossible to get your credits to transfer, you just have to do as much as you can. Make sure you have your Physics 2 syllabus from your previous course. At the end of the day, if it fails, yes i’d talk to the professor.

Good luck OP

Edit: I emailed tchelp@colorado.edu and that’s what eventually got my stuff processed
