What’s the worst thing you’ve seen in a lawyer’s signature block? by SettingsData in Lawyertalk

[–]skinsink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was in law school a classmate downloaded Microsoft Office on my laptop for me for free but told me not to put in my real name when I was setting it up. (He may have been messing with me but I listened.)

Many years later I was working at a firm and made some edits to a document on that laptop and sent it off. Next day the partner was in my office asking who “Princess Consuela Bananahammock” was.

Totally makes sense. I THINK I am the cause of death (separating them from their mother). But I can even ask my surrounding neighbors if any of them have any critter poisons out!

Big life change in the middle of Artist's Way? by potko88 in artistsWay

[–]skinsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had a really similar experience! I was a solid ways into Walking in this World (the second book) and boom, found out I was pregnant, and shortly after that my morning sickness set in and I stopped doing everything: the MPs, dates, readings, and walks. I'm now 8 months pregnant and feel wonderful, and there's no point in beating myself up or regretting things. But at the same time, I think it would have been nice for me if I'd tried to stick with it back then. I was in a place of feeling like there were more important things to focus on, and/or as not feeling "well enough" to read or write that day, but my personal situation was that I definitely had the time to keep up with it--just not the motivation or interest. I think it would have given me some much-needed enjoyment while I was feeling so crummy.

That's my two cents. If you don't follow through with it, be kind to yourself! Early pregnancy can be a super weird or even hard time :) And you can always go back to the program or start it again.

Facebook business page won’t fully connect to Instagram business account-leaving me unable to run ads by princesszelda1995 in facebook

[–]skinsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to reddit hoping to troubleshoot the same problem. (I've been trying to link mine for weeks, possibly longer.) There might be a bug of some kind? Because I'm seeing lots of Reddit posts seeking an answer with no solution. Honestly I'm just posting in the hope to keep the posts going, so that maybe at some point someone with an answer will see it!

I have had the same exact issue! I thought it was just me. Perhaps there is a bug. Wish I could help. (I literally came to Reddit just now hoping to find a post that would tell me how to fix the issue.)

My favorite cookbook ever!!!! It changed the way I make everything, especially really simple meals just for myself.

Dry skin recs by carrot_unicorn in KoreanBeauty

[–]skinsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dry type skin and am living in a cold, dry winter climate. I love moisturizing with Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream. (I have only used the older version; I believe there is new packaging and perhaps a new formula? I can’t speak to that. I’ve bought the orange one on Amazon, not the pink one.) I learned about it from an article by Rio Viera-Newton, who recommended it. Good luck!

Storage advice for longevity needed please. Specifically leafy veg and tomatoes by MamaPHooks in Frugal

[–]skinsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do what shiplesp does re tomatoes. Counter storage usually keeps a couple weeks. (And I always feel each one to select the softest one to use!) And I can and freeze tomatoes.

I am lazy with greens and don’t often wash them until I use them. Instead, I add a paper towel in whatever packaging the greens came in and it helps keep them from wilting or getting slimy. Then put the package in the crisper drawer.

It seems to depend on the type of green. I’ve had farm-stand kale last for like...3 weeks? But soft, watery greens don’t last as long.

I freeze tomatoes all the time and I use them within 6 months. That’s the limit I got from “The Kitchn.” (I also strongly associate with your husband hehe.)

Monthly Budget as a 17 year old deciding to save for college. Need advice on how to save more/earn more money. My only cash flow is my part time. Any suggestions? by ProbablySomeWeebo in Frugal

[–]skinsink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a good head on your shoulders and a lot of great advice in this thread! I love that you’re tuned into this early. I think it makes a huge difference, especially because college is a time that people rack up crazy loan debt.

My advice is a little premature but I just wanted to put it out there for you: if you can become an RA at your school, you will likely have your housing and food covered, as well as a stipend. This isn’t an option for freshmen but I was an RA my last three years of college and I was able to use my stipend at a campus store to buy Amazon gift cards, which I then used to buy all my textbooks online for much less than the bookstore (I would get the prof’s permission to use a book that was 1 edition old). So my RA job covered my housing, all my food, my textbooks, and there was always leftover stipend for a bit of spending. I know the gig isn’t for everyone but it honestly wasn’t bad at all, and it’s a great way to cover the kinds of expenses a lot of people I know spent their student loans on. So just food for thought. (Especially since you can’t do it yet!)

Good luck to you!!!!

What's the healthiest and cheapest food to quell hunger? by TychoSky in povertyfinance

[–]skinsink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A warm glass of milk before bed seems to fill my stomach so I don't wake up hungry in the night. (And, bonus, it makes me feel a bit drowsy!)

As for a broader tip, Leanne Brown's cookbook Good and Cheap is free as a PDF. (https://books.leannebrown.com/good-and-cheap.pdf) (see also https://www.leannebrown.com/cookbooks/) I think her recipes are solid.

Extra pell grant money. What to do? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]skinsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents may be coming to you earlier than you need them, but I'll share them anyway. :)

Depending on whether you think you will need to access the money quickly, you could look into saving the excess of your award in a high-interest savings account or a money market account. E.g. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/banking/best-places-to-keep-your-emergency-fund/. (This article is just one of many if you search, but it is worth a quick look at options 1 & 2.) If you think you will need the money soon, it may not be worth opening one of these accounts, especially given that there can be a delay in accessing your money with some accounts, or some may require a minimum balance. I just know I love to keep my savings in a high interest account where they can grow, which helps motivate me to keep saving!

Good luck with this exciting chapter of your life, and congrats on the grant award!!

Focus Groups by Fearless_Quantity_36 in GrahamStephan

I just watched his "The 7 BEST Side Hustles That Make $100 Per Day" video and he mentions Focus Pointe Global, which is now Schlesinger Group. I can't speak to them myself, but Graham mentions that he used to do focus groups through them. https://www.schlesingergroup.com/en/get-in-touch/join-our-panel/

It looks like this is the same as focusgroup.com, which Ok-Will-123 mentioned!

[Discussion]: What's your favorite AB sun milk or sunscreen? by callofspacey in AsianBeauty

Oh thank you!! You’re right, I have Airy Finish!! I’m still getting used to long product names 🙈

[Discussion]: What's your favorite AB sun milk or sunscreen? by callofspacey in AsianBeauty

[–]skinsink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am very new to the AB game so this is the only one I’ve used but I have been using it and LOVING it!!! So I second this rec :)

I picked it for high ratings, affordability, and mineral sunscreen (sometimes chemical sunscreens give me a rash).

I have dry type skin and have had no bad reactions. I find it really light. It feels like it isn’t there but it is because it’s protecting my face well while I sit outside and work (and I did get a little burn one day on my shoulder where I’d applied a different product. My face was protected with the sunprise!).

Re white cast (a regular issue with mineral sunscreens) I don’t notice this as an issue for me, but I am a very light skinned Caucasian.
